LEEDS, UK, April 22, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A 23-year-old British woman who gained notoriety last year by demanding the publicly funded National Health Service pay £4,800 for breast enhancement surgery so she could become a “glamour model,” has announced she intends to abort a child so she can appear on the British reality show “Big Brother.”

Josie Cunningham, who is 18 weeks pregnant, told the UK's Sunday Mirror that advancing her “career” is worth more than the life of her child.

“I’m finally on the verge of becoming famous and I’m not going to ruin it now,” she said.

“An abortion will further my career. This time next year I won’t have a baby. Instead, I’ll be famous, driving a bright pink Range Rover and buying a big house. Nothing will get in my way.”

The celebrity wannabe said that while she is not sure who the father of her child is – either a soccer player or a “client” – both of the men offered to support her pregnancy. But when she insisted on having the abortion she said the soccer player agreed to fund the abortion at a private clinic.

“I was excited at first but as soon as I noticed I was getting bigger, that was it,” said Cunningham. “I realized it would be at least a year before I could do any glamour modeling if I went through with it and, in my opinion, nobody wants to see a naked pregnant lady.”

The Metro tabloid reported that Cunningham's disclosure of her intentions led to a massive online protest, with many people tweeting that the reality show should be boycotted if it decides to feature Cunningham on the show.

“Josie Cunningham is disgusting. So many women can’t have children yet she’s willing to have an abortion so she can chase fame,” tweeted one person. Another wrote, “If @bbuk allows Josie Cunningham to enter, everyone should boycott it, dusgusting (sic) girl. Getting abortion at 4months just to appear in bb.”

Cunningham was undeterred, saying, “After the operation I will be going back to them and asking if they will still consider me.”

“All those people who have trolled me and hated me for being me are going to be put in their place when I make it. Why should I give that up to have a baby?”

However, Metro reported that the producers of “Big Brother” have decided against inviting the woman on the show.

“Josie is deluded if she thinks this will improve her chances of signing up, which were slim to non-existent to start with,” an unnamed source reportedly said. “How can we work with her — or pay her — if she admits having an abortion to achieve that? It would be a minefield.”

Big Brother” is produced by the UK's Channel 5 Broadcasting Ltd.
