October 25, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Obama campaign has released an ad in which HBO actress Lena Dunham compares her first time vote for Obama to losing her virginity.
“Your first time shouldn’t be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy,” says Dunham. “A guy who cares about whether you get health insurance, and specifically whether you get birth control.”
“My first time voting was amazing. It was this line in the sand. Before I was a girl. Now I was a woman. I went to the polling station and pulled back the curtain. I voted for Barack Obama.”
The ad has provoked a strong reaction from conservative commentators.
“How low will they go? The Obama people apparently just can’t keep their minds off of lady parts,” remarked pro-life blogger Jill Stanek. “These people are just plain sex-obsessed. This is an ad from the President of the United States?”
Ben Shapiro of Breitbart TV wrote: “It’s an astoundingly tasteless ad comparing voting for the first time to losing your virginity. Really.
“And Dunham recommends that if you’re going to have sex – er, vote – for the first time, you should really do it with President Barack Obama.”
