WASHINGTON, D.C., February 28, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The pro-life Susan B. Anthony (SBA) List has launched an advertisement campaign in the wake of an ad buy of similar magnitude by the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) as the latter fights an attempt by House Republicans to end its taxpayer funding.

Planned Parenthood’s new advertisement, urging Senators to reject a budget bill that guts the abortion giant’s funding, focuses on the organization’s other medical services, including cancer screenings and birth control.

A full third of Planned Parenthood’s revenue is propped up by government grants, the second-largest source of funding next to medical services, which include the lucrative abortions. Recently Planned Parenthood posted data indicating that in 2009 it set a record for the number of abortions committed in a single year – 332,278.

PPFA president Cecile Richards also recently appeared on the Joy Behar Show to defend her organization’s work offering low-income women “preventive care,” and downplaying its role in abortion. “[Abortion] is a very small part of what we do, but we believe it’s an important service to women,” Richards told Behar.

On the same day, the SBA List announced their new TV and radio advertisements as well as a 14-stop grassroots tour to rally support for the defunding effort.

Called “Women Speaking Out,” the SBA List ad campaign thanks individual Members of Congress who voted in favor of removing taxpayer support of Planned Parenthood. (View one of the television ads here.)

The SCBA List, which supports pro-life women running for public office, says that their message is the same as that of the majority of Americans.

“There is one word that grassroots America articulated over and over when it comes to use of its tax dollars for objectionable purposes, and that word is a resounding ‘no,’” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.  “As we look at funding for Planned Parenthood, that word is being repeated across the country.  Americans reject the idea that they would be forced into an alliance with sex traffickers and those who put the needs of women and young girls last.  This campaign is a reminder of what this last election was all about.”

Dannenfelser referred to recent undercover video footage published by investigators with the pro-life group Live Action that appeared to show Planned Parenthood employees in several states aiding actors disguised as sex traffickers who sought abortions and other medical services for the young girls they said they employed.

The pro-life campaign will begin with TV and online ads in the Syracuse, NY area thanking NY Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle for approving the defunding of the abortion giant. Later in the week, radio ads will air in the districts of Randy Hultgren (IL-14), Joe Walsh (IL-08), Frank Guinta (NH-02), Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-08) and Patrick Meehan (PA-07), with a similar message of support.

The following week, Votes Have Consequences Project Director Marilyn Musgrave and former Planned Parenthood Clinic Manager Abby Johnson will hold press conferences with local pro-life leaders in districts thanking the Representatives above who voted to defund Planned Parenthood and targeting those who voted against the amendment, including Leonard Boswell (IA-03), Bruce Braley (D) (IA-01), Bill Keating (MA-10), David Cicilline (RI-01), Jason Altmire (PA-04), Maurice Hinchey (NY-22), Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) and Bill Owens (NY-23).
