September 11, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A publication of the international socialist movement has explicitly stated it is promoting abortion and gay “marriage” as part of a multi-pronged campaign to “replace global capitalism” with Marxism.

The admission came on Monday in an article entitled “How Can We Change the World?” by Todd Chretien in the Socialist Worker, which is published by the International Socialist Organization. The ISO proudly “stands in the tradition of revolutionary socialists Karl Marx, V.I. Lenin, and Leon Trotsky.”

The article was putatively about the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s March on Washington. However, it hailed the socially liberal views of young people, women, and minorities – the same groups President Obama appealed to during the 2010 and 2012 campaigns.

The article cited the contributions of a number of young people, including Martin Luther King Jr., Communist Manifesto authors Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, Cuban Communist leader Ché Guevara, Nelson Mandela, Malcolm X, Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, Angela Davis (a black militant and Communist Party member who was on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List), and Black Panther Elaine Brown.

Today's young people, Chretien hoped, would carry on a social revolution by waging war on the family.

“When you break the statistics down by age, race and gender, you see what the powers that be are afraid of,” he wrote. “Some 68 percent of people between the ages of 18 and 34, 60 percent of women, and 60 percent of people of color support gay marriage – compared to 46 percent of people over the age of 50, 49 percent of men, and 53 percent of whites. These gaps generally hold true for a host of issues.”

Millenials – those born after 1981 – represent the only generation where a majority supports gay “marriage.” Meanwhile, only 38 percent of the nation's largest demographic group, the Baby Boomers, back marriage redefinition, according to a Pew Research Forum in March.

However, the socialist warned that “as we win real victories around marriage equality” and President Obama's unilateral amnesty for some illegal aliens, “we are losing ground” on “access to abortion.”

He asked readers to look at “the price being paid” by “the women who live in the 87 percent of U.S. counties without an abortion provider.”

Communist Party member and ACLU founder “Elizabeth Gurley Flynn thought reproductive justice and socialism went hand in hand,” he wrote.

So, too, did Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger. When she died in 1966, the New York Times described her as “an active worker for the Socialist Party” whose “friends included radicals of all shades.”

Polls consistently show the greatest gulf over abortion is not generational but religious. A Washington Post-ABC poll last month found that nearly two-thirds of Protestants and Catholics who attend church weekly are pro-life. Yet 72 percent of non-religious Americans support abortion in all or most cases.

Chretien quoted MLK Jr.'s call for a “broader distribution of wealth” and for the “whole structure” of society to be changed. (However, King explicitly condemned Marxist philosophy.)

The article was the latest example of the international socialist movement's support for abortion and opposition to the family stretching back to the founding of Communism.

Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote in The Communist Manifesto of their plan for the “abolition of the family,” to “replace home education by social” or public schools, and to replace monogamy with “an openly legalized community of women” (sharing women in common).

Their modern adherents continue to advocate for their anti-family vision on an issue-by-issue basis.

Most recently the Revolutionary Communist Party led the “Abortion Rights Freedom Rides,” bestowing awards on facility owners that proclaim, “Abortion Providers are Heroes.”

At ISO's “Socialism 2012” conference last summer, angry protesters chanted: “Free abortion on demand! Can we do it? Yes, we can!”

Last June, the Communist Party of Australia urged its members to “strike blows against” Christianity by endorsing same-sex “marriage.”

Last May, Mariela Castro, the niece of Fidel Castro who heads Cuba’s National Center for Sex Education (CENESEX), encouraged Barack Obama to legalize gay “marriage.”

“This is part of their anti-family strategy,” Dr. Paul Kengor, executive director of The Center for Vision and Values and a professor of political science at Grove City College, told LifeSiteNews.com last year.

Only blind adherence to the destruction of the nuclear family and its replacement by the State could explain Marxists' flip-flops, he said, going from imprisoning or executing homosexuals just a few decades ago in Cuba to promoting the LGBT political agenda today.

“The Communist priority is not gay rights but a continued assault on the family,” Dr. Kengor wrote.
