BOSTON, June 25 (LSN) – A study released in today’s New England Journal of Medicine once again reveals the lies of the pro-abortion movement promotion of the abortion drug misoprostol. The drug, which is usually used to combat ulcers, is one of the key ingredients in the touted abortion drug RU-486.  The study focussed on Brazil where the drug is available over the counter and used frequently to attempt abortions. The study headed up by Anne Pastuszak of the University of Toronto noted that the drug failed to abort the babies 80 per cent of the time and the effects of the attempted abortion are disastrous. It also found that infants whose mother’s took the drug during the first trimester of pregnancy were two times as likely to develop facial paralysis known as Mobius’ syndrome.  The study concluded that the “administration of misoprostol during pregnancy should be strongly discouraged, given the drug’s low efficacy (for inducing an abortion) and its likelihood for causing fetal malformations.”
