COLUMBUS, OH, April 4, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) — A man claiming to be a woman who is serving three years in state prison for theft and forgery must continue to receive hormone therapy while serving time, a judge has ordered.

Antione Lee, who goes by Whitney Lee, was receiving hormonal therapy from 1999 to 2012. According to the complaint that led to the judge's decision, he had been dressing as a woman since his teenage years. He received treatments at home, while in federal prison, and at the Hamilton County Justice Center, says the complaint and request, which was filed by the Justice & Policy Center. The Center is located in Cinncinati, Ohio.

After the treatments ended, Lee was placed on suicide watch after becoming angry and irritable, says the request. His voice got deeper, facial hair started growing, and breast tissue was lost, among other symptoms.

The prison argued that the case should have been dismissed because Lee had not used all of the resources available to him under the Prison Litigation Reform Act. Thus, says the prison, Lee did not have standing to bring the suit.

Lee is housed with men in the prison.
