TORONTO, September 17, 2002 (LSN.ca) – LifeSite was pleased to learn today that Toronto Cardinal Aloysius Ambrozic will not be attending the Toronto Red Mass dinner featuring the notoriously pro-abortion former Prime Minister Joe Clark as keynote speaker.  Suzanne Scorsone, Director of Communications at the Archdiocese of Toronto contacted LifeSite today noting that the Cardinal “had another commitment.”  Only days ago some lawyers with the guild were informed the Cardinal was attending the dinner.  Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition, said, “I’m happy the Cardinal will not be associated with any Catholic politician who holds a pro-abortion point of view.  Perhaps this will send a message to all Catholic organizations that they should carefully screen prospective speakers at events to ensure they don’t violate Catholic teachings.”  The Thomas More Lawyers’ Guild is not yet known to have withdrawn its invitation to Clark.  See related LifeSite coverage:  CARDINAL SAID TO BE ATTENDING TORONTO RED MASS DINNER DESPITE PRO-ABORTION SPEAKER https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2002/sep/02091601.html
