NEW YORK, April 29, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A new undercover video from a New York abortion clinic show a counselor at the clinic describing what would be done with a baby who survives an abortion attempt.

The video is the first in a new series of undercover videos by the pro-life organization Live Action that are intended to expose the illegal practices of some late-term abortion clinics, as well as the details of what happens to the victims of late-term abortion. A second was released Monday morning.

The videos are being released in the midst of the ongoing trial of late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell, who stands accused of murdering living newborn babies by snipping their spinal cords.

“Dr. Kermit Gosnell is not alone,” said Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action. “The gruesome and inhuman practices exposed in Gosnell’s ‘House of Horrors’ are business as usual for the abortion industry in America.  These children’s lives are brutally destroyed when they are the most defenseless. This isn’t ‘choice’; this is murder.”

In the new video the counselor at Dr. Emily’s Women’s Health Center in the Bronx was caught on tape describing how late-term abortions happen.  She advises Live Action’s undercover investigator, who tells the counselor that she is 22 or 23 weeks pregnant, that after she goes home after the first stage of the abortion, she should try not to “push.”

“Some patients will just sit in the bathroom and try and push. Um, don’t do that,” says the counselor.

The undercover investigator then asks what to do if the baby comes out while she is at home.

“If it comes out, then it comes out. Flush it…if anything, you know, put it in a bag or something or somewhere and bring it to us,” the counselor says.

However, the counselor adds, “We never had a situation like that.”

When Live Action’s investigator asks what happens to the baby after the abortion – or what the clinic would do if, after the abortion, the baby is moving – the counselor says:

“If it did come out in one piece, it’s very small.  So they would still have to put it in a container – like, a jar – with solution and send it to the lab.”

When asked what happens if the baby after the abortion is breathing or twitching, the Bronx counselor responds:

“The solution will make it stop.  It’s not going to be moving around in the jar…that’s the whole purpose of the solution,” she said. “It’ll automatically stop.  It won’t be able to…not with the solution.”

However, the counselor also explains that the abortion is a suction abortion, and says that it is unlikely the baby would come out in one piece. “We never had that for ages,” she says.

When asked how big the baby is, the counselor told the woman, “It’s six months. It’s fully grown.”

The counselor also discourages the woman from going to the hospital if she experience complications, explaining that the hospital won’t want to finish an abortion that the abortion clinic started.

The counselor also suggests that people at the hospital might force the woman to have the baby and keep it.

“Who knows, they might, you know, there’s a lot of pro-life people out there, so they’re, you know…like, against abortions. So, they could always say like oh, you were forced to do it, or, you know,” she adds.

“So then they would, like, they would force me to have it?” the woman asks.

“They might. Or they might just tell you to push it out,” the counselor responds.

At another point in conversation, another counselor explains that the abortion is a “high risk” abortion, and also suggests that the baby could come out alive, but if that happened, the doctor would have to try to save the baby.

“What happens is the doctor does your termination inside the body because if that pregnancy comes out alive he has to do whatever he can to resuscitate it and bring it to the hospital. So, what happens is when you do a second trimester pregnancy it is done inside the body and then removed tissue and pregnancy parts outside the body,” the counselor explains.

Rose is calling on New York state government and health officials and U.S. prosecutors to investigate the Bronx clinic and conduct a statewide investigation into other clinics that perform late-term abortions.

“[W]e have reason to believe that abortionists and staff at the Dr. Emily Woman’s Health Center are operating under conditions that endanger women and children to the point of disease and even death,” said Rose in a letter Health Commissioner Shah. “We therefore urge you to immediately revoke the license of this clinic. ”

“These abortion clinics are abusing human life in unimaginable ways,” Rose said, “but our society has become so numb to what is going on behind their doors.  Babies born alive from a failed abortion should not be put in a jar of toxic solution, or flushed down a toilet.  How could anyone condone this kind of inhuman and brutal treatment of a helpless, innocent child?”

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is instead promoting legislation to repeal any abortion restrictions in the state during all nine months of pregnancy.
