SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, August 27, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Salt Lake City TV station which is owned by the Mormon Church has decided against airing “The New Normal,” NBC’s new homosexual-themed sitcom.

A statement from KSL-TV‘s parent company, Bonneville International, cited offensive characterizations, crude dialogue and explicit content as the underlying reasons for rejecting the TV show.

The show is produced and directed by openly homosexual Ryan Murphy, who also produced “The Playboy Club,” “American Horror Story,” “Glee,” and “Nip/Tuck.”

“After viewing the pilot episode of ‘The New Normal,’ we have made the decision to keep it off our fall schedule,” said Jeff Simpson, CEO of Bonneville International, according to Deseret News. “For our brand, this program simply feels inappropriate on several dimensions, especially during family viewing time.”

Last year KSL-TV rejected NBC’s, “The Playboy Club,” about the original Playboy Club in Chicago in 1961.

“The New Normal” is about a homosexual couple who hires a surrogate to produce a baby for them.

NBC’s website gives this description of the show: “These days, families come in all forms – single dads, double moms, sperm donors, egg donors, one-night-stand donors… It’s 2012 and anything goes. Bryan and David are a Los Angeles couple and they have it all. Well, almost. With successful careers and a committed and loving partnership, the one thing missing is a baby.”

NBC issued a statement in response to the KSL decision, saying, “The New Normal is a contemporary look at how families are defined today, portrayed through a comedic prism. We are confident that the show will find another home in the Salt Lake City market.”

One Million Moms (OMM), a pro-family group of mothers affiliated with American Family Association, accused the show of “attempting to desensitize America and our children” and is urging a boycott of sponsors of the program if it is aired.

“OMM is prepared to contact any and all sponsors of this program if it is aired,” the group warns, noting, “It is proven this strategy works! It was not too long ago that NBC announced ‘The Playboy Club’ was canceled after only three episodes because of lack of advertisers!”

“NBC is using public airwaves to continue to subject families to the decay of morals and values, and the sanctity of marriage in attempting to redefine marriage,” says OMM. “These things are harmful to our society, and this program is damaging to our culture.”

OMM is urging supporters to email NBC officials asking them to reconsider the airing of “The New Normal,” and telling the network that their family will not watch the show.
