Opinion

October 11, 2012 (Bound4Life.com) – I watched an old Batman cartoon with a five-year-old recently. There was an older retired Batman counseling the new young Batman. The old Batman was discouraged and tried to convince the new Batman to quit fighting crime. The new young Batman refused and shared his “testimony.” He said he was a bad kid, always getting in trouble and committing crimes. He would never quit, he could never quit. He said that every time he suited up and fought crime, he “redeemed himself from his past.”  Sweet old Batman couldn’t say much about that argument.

Even though young Batman was so sincere, he missed it. Nothing he does in the present or the future can change the events of his past. I know it was just a cartoon, but this young Batman can not redeem himself, he needs a Redeemer. He needs Jesus.

I am so thankful to read about modern day batmen and bat women in the pro-life movement. They may not wear costumes, but they are heroes and lead lives that save lives of babies every day. Some of them have aborted their own children. Some worked for the enemy. Others protested the very truth they now serve. Many amazing converts have written books, shared shocking truth, and even exposed the evil plan of the adversary through various means.

Abortion is irreversible.

Once a baby is forcibly removed from the womb, that life is removed. That life is gone. If any expecting mother considering abortion happens to stumble on these words, please know this: you can never take it back. Nothing that you say or do can bring your baby back. No matter how many lives you save one day, this one has one chance for life and that chance is now.  The decision of life or death is permanent. “Counselors” may advise you that you will have plenty of time in the future to have children. What they will not say is that no matter how many you have, the one or ones you choose to abort will be gone forever. Please consider the grave permanence of the decision before you and please choose life.

For mothers who have made that permanent decision, please do not feel condemned. Do not waste a second of time or energy focusing on the dire regret. Even though the decision to abort is irreversible and permanent, it is not unforgivable or unredeemable. As certainly as I do not condemn you, Jesus Himself does not condemn you either. His blood cries even louder than the blood of the aborted and He longs to bring complete restoration to you. The work that Jesus did on the cross for you was perfect and complete.

My heart behind sharing this Batman revelation is for the ones striving, working, pleading, fasting, breaking, slaving away in this cause for life in order to gain your own redemption under the guilt of your past. I am praying for you today that you find rest and comfort in Jesus and the price that He already paid for your past. I pray that you receive the fullness of the redemption He purchased for you. I hope that you find peace in knowing that even if you worked every second for the rest of your life without rest, you could not take back what you have done. I hope that relief floods your heart as you receive the truth that you cannot earn redemption from the past. You do not have to strive to redeem yourself. By the grace of Jesus, He can remove abortion as far from you as the east is from the west, a distance we can not even conceive. He will blot out your iniquity and remember your sin no more.

I am so thankful for the men, women, and children who believe in the sanctity of life. I am honored to pray and fight with you all. Today I am especially grateful for the ones, who like me, have been forgiven much. Jesus Himself said that those who have been forgiven much will love much. You can reach those others never could. May love, instead of working to earn that which He purchased, be the fuel that encourages your fight to continue as you rest in the Redeemer of LIFE. May we love much.

John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
