President Obama seems to have been in a jovial mood during his bizarre fundraising tour of Texas and Colorado last week.

While persistently ignoring the pleas of legislators from his own party to make a side trip to the Mexican border to address the humanitarian crisis as thousands of abandoned children make their way into the United States, the leader of the free world found time to play a game of pool, laughingly decline a marijuana joint offered to him in Colorado (where the drug was recently legalized), and cut in line to drop $300 on barbecue at an Austin restaurant.

But perhaps most baffling was his reaction to the cross-dressing cashier at the barbecue joint, who – while not dressed in drag during their encounter – decided to use his thirty seconds of interaction with the president to promote the gay agenda.

“Equal rights for gay people!” shouted Daniel Rugg Webb, a stand-up comedian, musician, and part-time employee at Franklin Barbecue, slamming his hand down on the counter for emphasis.

“Are you gay?” the president asked him.

“Only when I have sex,” was Webb’s joking reply.

Obama laughed, offered his fist, and said, “Bump me.”  The moment was caught on camera by Doug Mills of the New York Times, who posted the photo to social media:

Webb told the Austin Chronicle that his only regret was that he wasn’t wearing his favorite gold sequined evening gown for his meeting with the president.  Otherwise, he said he was thrilled with the encounter.  “It was just a lucky day to be the register girl,” he said.

Webb also said that he was glad it was Obama and not Texas Gov. Rick Perry – who has consistently resisted attempts to redefine marriage to include same-sex couples, and who recently compared homosexuality to alcoholism – who showed up at his register.

“If Rick Perry would've walked in, I would have lost my job,” Webb said.  “I would've taken that old queen to town.”
