Windsor Children’s Aid Society Pursuing Homosexual Foster Parents

By Thaddeus M. Baklinski

WINDSOR, Ontario, April 13, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Windsor branch of the Children’s Aid Society (CAS) has formed a partnership with a local homosexual advocacy group, ‘Windsor Pride,’ to encourage adoptive and foster parenting by the area’s homosexual community.

The Windsor Star reports that the initiative’s first public information session, which will feature homosexuals who have already adopted or are foster parenting children, will take place on April 14 at the homosexual organization’s downtown center.

“I think a lot of people in the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered) community aren’t aware of the fact that we would accept them as adoptive and foster parents,” said Bev Thomson, Windsor CAS adoption recruiter, adding that homosexuals looking to adopt children in the Windsor area are rare, with only five applications for adoption by same-sex households in the past four years.

Windsor CAS foster parenting recruiter, Darcy Thachuk, said: “From our end, there is no issue. We are actively recruiting unique families from different cultures. … It’s about parenting, and providing children with a safe home environment, giving children a second chance.”

However, vast amounts of research have suggested that raising children in a homosexual environment leads to not only manifestations of homosexuality, but to high rates of physical and mental illness, in the children.

In 2005 a research paper published by the Spanish Forum for the Family and the Institute for Family Policy, entitled “Report on Infantile Development in Same-Sex Couples” and which gathered and compared extensive studies carried out on the issue, concluded that homosexual parenting is harmful for children.

Among children raised by same-sex couples, the report notes a significant increase in low self-esteem, stress, confusion regarding sexual identity, an increase in mental illness, drug use, promiscuity, STD’s, and homosexual behavior, amongst others. Furthermore, the report shows that statistics have brought to light the fact that same-sex relationships suffer from a much higher instance of separation and break-up than heterosexual relationships, increasing the likelihood that the child will experience familial instability.

In a Vatican document released in 2005 entitled “Considerations Regarding Proposals to Give Legal Recognition to Unions Between Homosexual Persons,” then-Cardinal Ratzinger wrote, “Allowing children to be adopted by persons living in (homosexual) unions would actually mean doing violence to these children, in the sense that their condition of dependency would be used to place them in an environment that is not conducive to their full human development.”

In 2002 Colin Hart, Director of the UK’s Christian Institute, commenting on Britain’s amendment to its adoption law to allow homosexual adoption, said that, “Allowing gay adoption is more about normalising homosexual behaviour than about increasing opportunities for adoption.”

“The overwhelming evidence is that unmarried and gay adoption would be bad for kids. The law should be based on what is best for children not on political correctness. The research is crystal clear: children need a male and a female role model in a permanent relationship.”

Hart concluded: “If homosexual adoption is legalised children will suffer. I think it’s cruel deliberately to deny adopted children a mother or a father for no other reason than to support gay rights.”
