As a Toronto City Councillor, Layton stood among the crowd who mocked and physically abused pro-life activists who peacefully witnessed to the dignity of all human life before Morgentaler’s Toronto abortuary in October 1988.
It seems some of the public and many establishment leaders have lost their marbles or, shall we say, common sense at the moment regarding the legacy of the personally likeable NDP leader Jack Layton.
Editorial: The delicacy required around death is always a tough thing for political enemies, but also for people of faith when dealing with the death of someone who opposes fundamental moral truths.
Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition, noted Layton's passing and offered a prayer for the political leader. "May God have mercy on his soul," Hughes said.
“Although he’s not someone we would support politically because of his pro-abortion stand, we do pray for him," said Mary Ellen Douglas, Campaign Life Coalition’s national organizer.
