ROSEVILLE, Mich., Sept 30 (LSN) – Jack Kevorkian, known as Dr. Death, has assisted in yet another suicide. The victim was Kari Miller, 54, of Engelwood, Colo., who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis.

WASHINGTON, Sept 30 (LSN) – President Clinton spoke out today against a plan by Republicans for a voucher system. The system would allow parents to choose where to send their children to school either private schools or public. Supporters of the system note that there is no accountability in the failing public school system. Vouchers would ensure competition to offer the best possible education as well as the opportunity to have religiously-based schooling. The Associated Press reported Clinton as saying the plan would ‘‘diminish our country’s commitment to public education by siphoning badly needed funds away from our public schools.’‘

GENEVA, Sept 30 (LSN) – The Associated Press reported this afternoon that a UN human rights expert would be investigating capital punishment in the United States. U.N. officials said Tuesday that Waly Bacre Ndiaye of Senegal would be visiting prisoners sentenced to death in Texas and California during his stay in the US. This U.N. special investigator on extrajudicial, summary and arbitrary executions, will report back to the U.N. Human Rights Commission on his findings. Dr. Sergio Stone, is being charged with fraud and conspiracy. However, the charges in this public trial make no mention of the egg- and embryo-swapping that led to more than 100 lawsuits and cost $18.4 million so far. MOSCOW, Sept 26 (LSN) – The Kremlin issued a statement on Friday indicating that Russian President Boris Yeltsin had signed the law “On freedom of conscience and religious organizations”. Catholic World News reported that The law gives legal status only to religions that were active in the country for more than 15 years, essentially meaning Russian Orthodoxy, Judaism, Buddhism, and Islam since all other religions were outlawed by the officially atheist Soviet Union.
