VATICAN (LSN) – In what the Vatican called a ‘grave episode’, Catholic Bishop Su Zhimin of Boading, a city south of Beijing, has been arrested by Chinese authorities. Bishop Zhimin, is known for his fidelity to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and his refusal to enter the government-sponsored `Patriotic Church’ has led to his many arrests. In total he has spent 20 years in prison.

GENEVA, Oct 15 (LSN) – The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child concluded its sixteenth session on October 10. The Committee issued recommendations to six countries: The Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Australia, Uganda, Czech Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and Togo. Recommendations included making spanking illegal even in the home.
