C.A.R.A.L. CLAIMS CANADIANS ARE 78% PRO-ABORTION

TORONTO, Jan 28 (LSN)—The Globe and Mail reported today that the Canadian Abortion Rights Action League (CARAL) is claiming that Canadians have reached a “consensus” in favour of abortion. The pro-abortion group commissioned an Environics poll which says it has found that four out of five Canadians believe that abortion is a private matter between a woman and her physician. Of course,  believing that abortion should be a private matter does not necessarily mean an endorsement of it.  However, according to the Toronto Sun, in the most recent Gallup study on the topic, done in 1995,  35 per cent of […]

CLINTON NOMINATED FOR NOBLE PEACE PRIZE

WASHINGTON, Jan 28 (LSN)—In the midst of a sex scandal, the notoriously pro-abortion US President Bill Clinton was nominated for the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize yesterday. Three members of the Norwegian parliament said they were naming Clinton for helping bolster democracy, human rights and peace.  The Nobel prize has so often been awarded to population contollers and pro-aborts, that one wonders about its credibility as a “peace” prize.  Pro-life leaders have observed that on occasion, the Peace Prize has been awarded to organizations or individuals (such as Mother Teresa) who actually merit recognition as authentic advocates and practitioners of peace. MORGENTALER CELEBRATES 10 YEAR HORRIFIC ANNIVERSARY

OTTAWA, Jan 28 (LSN)—While pro-lifers bemoan the horrific Supreme Court Decision removing even the remotest protection for the pre-born, Henry Morgentaler revels about the success of his morbid cause. “I take great personal satisfaction when I think back on that,” says Morgentaler. “It was a very stressful time for me. When I look back on the accomplishments, I’m very proud of myself.”  Morgentaler has even dreamt up advantages of abortion which would strech the imagination of most pro-aborts. He asserts that, “Fewer unwanted children are being born, therefore there are fewer young males that commit crimes that have rage and […]

POLL SUGGESTS AMERICANS ARE MORE PRO-LIFE

WASHINGTON, Jan 28 (LSN)—Last week, the Family Research Council released a report noting that most Americans believe that abortion should not be permitted after signs of life can be detected.  Polling data reveal that 61 percent disagree that “abortion should be permitted after fetal brainwaves are detected,” and 58 percent agree that “abortion should not be permitted after the fetal heartbeat has begun.” (Note: Fetal brainwaves can be detected as early as the sixth week of pregnancy, and fetal heartbeat usually begins between days 18 and 21.)  57 percent of Americans described their own personal position as pro-life. Only 21 […]

AL GORE NEXT US PRESIDENT?

WASHINGTON, Jan 27 (LSN) – Many speculators on US President Clinton’s sex scandal have suggested that he may be forced to leave office. In that case US Vice President Al Gore would assume the presidency. But Gore’s aggressively pro-abortion and anti-family stance is just as strong if not stronger than Clinton’s.  Al Gore is one of the world’s foremost proponents of abortion and population control. Last October, Gore called a White House “global-warming” conference where he warned that “overpopulation” was one of the main contributing factors to the environmental threat. The Washington Times reported Gore as saying,  “Third World nations […]

CAMPAIGN LIFE COALITION MOURNS A DECADE OF LAWLESSNESS

January 27, 1998 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   “CARAL's breaking out the cake and champagne, but sackcloth and ashes would be more appropriate,” said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition, the political arm of the pro-life movement in Canada. Mr Hughes was referring today to the Canadian Abortion Rights Action League and other pro-abortion leaders celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada Morgentaler decision on January 28th.  The ruling, widely viewed as an unprecedented case of Charter-based “judicial activism,” left Canada lawless with regard to abortion.  “Science has shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that […]

UN PLANS TO REINTERPRET UNIVERSAL DECLARATION

TOKYO, Jan 27 (LSN) – United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights,  Mary Robinson, spoke at the UN University in Tokyo today at the “Symposium on Human Rights in the Asia-Pacific Region.” In her address she claimed that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has “acquired through state practice the status of universal law.”  Robinson advised against making a new declaration to fit the varied “complexities” of today including “discrimination on grounds of gender or on the basis of sexual orientation.” Rather, Robinson suggested, “we need to recognize and recommit ourselves to the extent to which these values are implied […]

GERMAN RC CHURCH TO END ABORTION CERTIFICATES

MAINZ, Germany, Jan 27 (LSN) – The German Catholic Bishops’ Conference revealed today that Catholic agencies in Germany will stop issuing abortion-counselling certificates. The announcement came in response to a letter from Pope John Paul II. In the five-page letter, the pontiff wrote,  “I would like to urgently request that you, dear brothers, find ways so that a certificate of this nature is no longer issued in church advice centers or in centers which are affiliated to the church.” Bishop Karl Lehmann, of Mainz, told reporters “We will meet the pope’s request. In no way will we withdraw from the […]

RC CHURCH IN GERMANY RECEIVES POPE ‘S LETTER ON ABORTION COUNSELLING

WUERZBURG, Germany, Jan 25 (LSN) – On Sunday, the German Conference of Bishops met in a monastery to discuss, in secret, a letter from Pope John Paul in which he is believed to express concerns about the German Catholic church’s involvement in abortion counselling. A spokesman for the bishops said they had agreed to secrecy about the letter’s contents until the results of their meeting are made known on Tuesday.  Conflicting reports as to the letter’s contents abound. Christa Nickels, parliamentary spokeswoman on religious affairs for the environmental Greens, said that according to her information the guidelines offered by the […]

MORGENTALER TO CAMPAIGN FOR EUTHANASIA

TORONTO, Jan 26 (LSN)—On Saturday, the infamous pioneer of abortion in Canada, Henry Morgentaler,  admitted to a connection in the ideology between abortion and euthanasia. Talking to Globe and Mail reporter Kirk Makin, Morgentaler revealed plans to push yet another immoral cause, that of euthanasia. Morgentaler says he wants to give the incurably ill “as much control over their lives as pregnant women now have.”
