NEW YORK, Mar 20 (LSN) – The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (CFHRI), an advocate for family and human rights at the UN, issued a warning today about anti-life language in the proposals for an International Criminal Court. According to the CFHRI report, “UN feminists are aggressively lobbying for the inclusion of ‘enforced pregnancy’ as part of the official definition of ‘war crimes’ in the proposed International Criminal Court (ICC).”“The term ‘enforced pregnancy,’ according to sources within national delegations, is intended to make the denial of access to abortion a ‘war crime,’ the report noted. The report also indicates […]
GENEVA, Mar 20 (LSN) A report released yesterday by the UN’s World Health Organization (WHO) claimed that 20 million women around the world get “unsafe abortions” every year resulting in the death of 80,000 mothers. Predictably, the UN did not consider the more than 20 million babies killed, not to mention the countless millions also killed every year in another category the UN would call “safe abortions.” Rather than suggest getting rid of abortions to combat the deaths of mothers and their children, the UN is using their findings to promote global access to abortion on demand. Revealing its opposition […]

OTTAWA, Mar 19 (LSN) – MP John Reynolds, the Reform Party’s immigration critic, criticized the Liberal government for its skirting current immigration laws to allow homosexual immigrants to sponsor their lovers to come to Canada, and called for an investigation into such incidents. “Until the federal government changes the law to define spouse differently than it is now, it’s not a proposal that could go forth in legislation,” he said.

NEW YORK, Mar 19 (LSN) – Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and The Biotechnology Industry Organization have lobbied feverishly at both federal and state levels to quash any legislation to ban human cloning. Having blocked anti-cloning legislation in Congress, the two drug manufacturers have launched an aggressive state-by-state campaign to fight other anti-cloning bills. Spokespersons for the groups lament their one defeat thus far the legislation enacted by California Gov. Pete Wilson on Oct. 4 making it a crime to clone a human being or buy fetal cells to do so.
WASHINGTON, Mar 19 (LSN) Last Friday the Clinton administration announced it would not support a resolution criticizing China’s human rights record at a United Nations human rights conference which began Monday in Geneva. Officials cited China’s agreement to sign a United Nations human rights covenant as the reason for not wishing to criticize China. In a recent press release, the Family Research Council (FRC) noted that the US Senate voted overwhelmingly, 95-5, to urge President Clinton to press China about “serious human rights abuses,” despite China’s signing of the UN document. To demonstrate the great need for speaking out against […]

According to the Archdiocese, the program “is being promoted by organizations that under deceiving names, such as ‘pro-family,’ are offering material goods and false explanations in order to force poor women to accept tubal ligations.”
