STACKED PANEL GIVES PREDICTABLE THUMBS UP TO RU486

BOSTON, Apr 30 (LSN) – The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) published a report today on a study of RU486 conducted by “researchers” from the Population Council, an extremist pro-abortion group. The report, which predictably found in favour of the abortifacient drug, was commissioned after President Bill Clinton took the extraordinary step of inviting the manufacturer to apply to market the poison in the United States, in 1993. Clinton, whose abortion advocacy is nothing short of fanatical, also interfered with Federal Drug Administration attempts to prevent illegal importing of the drug.  The Population Council “researchers” concluded mifepristone (RU486), is […]

ETHICS “EXPERTS” RECOMMEND SELECTIVE ABORTIONS

ALBANY, NY, Apr 30 (LSN) – On Wednesday, the Task Force on Life and the Law, a New York-based panel of 24 “experts” in medicine, law, and ethics, recommended selective abortions for multiple pregnancies.  In such cases, which commonly result from in vitro fertilization procedures, the panel advised “fetus reduction,” in order to improve the chances of survival of the other children conceived.  Despite its offensive conclusion, the panel did expose a dangerous trend within the field of IVF.  They warned that information given to IVF candidates is “seriously deficient,” and they urged state legislators to require that clients be […]

CROWN CALLS FOR SIX-YEAR SENTENCE IN GENEREUX EUTHANASIA CASE

TORONTO, Apr 30 (LSN) – In court yesterday, Crown Attorney Michael Leshner called for a six-year jail term for prominent Toronto AIDS doctor Maurice Genereux, convicted in January of assisting the suicide attempts of two of his patients. Genereux’s lawyer called for a suspended sentence.  Mr Leshner described Genereux as “cunning, deceitful, lying, and manipulative” in his prescription of drugs to be used for suicides, and in his subsequent concealment of the evidence. Mr Leshner said that Genereux handed “a loaded pharmaceutical gun to people with suicidal tendencies.”  The defense brought forward testimony from psychiatrist Graham Glancy, who treated Genereux […]

The students told their parents that Rowan described homosexual activity and condom use in graphic detail.  After being confronted by the school principal and several concerned parents last Friday, Rowan was removed from the class until a disciplinary hearing was held on Monday. NEW BOOK CALLS FOR A PARENT’S MOVEMENT

SAN FRANCISCO, Apr 29 (LSN) – Authors Cornel West and Sylvia Ann Hewlett have written a new book which hit bookstores two weeks ago arguing powerfully that society has undermined parenting. In “The War Against Parents: What We Can Do for America’s Beleaguered Moms and Dads” (Houghton Mifflin), the authors present solid arguments showing how modern culture has manufactured the downfall of stable family life with anti-family salaries, taxation, media and pop psychology.  The book, reviewed in the San Francisco Chronicle, demonstrates the devastating effects of the war against the family with truly alarming statistics. PRO-LIFE & PRO-FAMILY BRIEFS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE FOR Apr 29 (LSN)

SPAIN – A twelve-year-old court case involving abortion is to be decided in the next two weeks in Spain, renewing debate in the country on the issue. In the 1980’s, police raided a private abortuary in Malaga where illegal abortions were being done. Over 10,000 abortions were committed in the clinic before police closed it down. The sentencing of the abortionists will be politically charged since Spain’s current abortion law is so lax that mothers who wish to end the lives of their preborn flock to Spain from Portugal, Morocco and France. The abortionists could be imprisoned for 23 years […]

WARNING AGAINST ADOPTING OREGON SUICIDE LAW

VANCOUVER, Apr 29 (LSN) – Writing in today’s edition of The Province, a Vancouver daily, Susan Martinuk delivered a stunning expose on the horror of Oregon’s law permitting physician assisted-  suicide (PAS). Oregon law stipulates that patients seeking PAS must be within six months of death,  mentally competent and have the approval of two physicians. However, Martinuk reveals that the case of the first victim of the new law demonstrates the fact that the so-called safeguards crafted by Oregon’s legislators were useless in practice.  Details of the death revealed recently note that the first two physicians whom the woman consulted […]

UN THOUGHT POLICE TO ENFORCE POLITICALLY CORRECT NEWS

BOSNIA, Apr 29 (LSN) – The UN controlled NATO forces have decided to create an “intervention tribunal”  designed to clamp down on politically incorrect information. The idea gained popularity after heavily armed NATO “peacekeepers” seized four radio and television transmitters controlled by Bosnian Serbs last October. The move was in response to Serb TV broadcasts suggesting that the U.N. war crimes tribunal was anti-Serb.  NATO is creating the tribunal with the power to forcibly stop radio, television and newspaper broadcasts from spreading “poisonous propaganda” which they say undermines “peace.” World Net Daily which reported the news noted that Western officials […]

HELMS WARNS CLINTON: LAST CHANCE TO APPROVE COMPROMISE ON U.N. FUNDING

WASHINGTON, Apr. 28 (LSN) – The US Senate voted today to approve funding for the UN, with some conditions on the use of US funds to promote abortion. It seems likely, however, that President Bill Clinton, a strident supporter of abortion “rights,” will veto the proposal, as he has done in recent years. The legislation offers the UN $819 million, and forgiveness of a $107 million debt owed to the United States. Although most of the bill’s original pro-life conditions have been removed, Mr Clinton appears unwilling to budge. The bill would prevent international pro-abortion “family planning”  agencies that receive […]

U.S. POLITICIAN TESTIFIES ON BEHALF OF PRO-LIFERS

CHICAGO, Apr 14 (LSN) – On Thursday, US Congressman Henry Hyde, R-Ill., testified as a character witness for Pro-Life Action League president Joseph Scheidler. Hyde criticized the lawyers for the National Organization of Women (NOW), for their negative portrayal of the peaceful pro-life activist. Hyde testified that he had known Scheidler as an honest man for 25 years. The NOW is attempting to shut down pro-life activity, by engaging pro-life leaders in costly lawsuits. In this case, they are arguing that Mr Scheidler’s remarkably successful campaigns to save vulnerable women and children from the abortion industry amounts to “racketeering.”

KLEIN CAVES IN TO VRIEND RULING

EDMONTON, Apr 9 (LSN) – Yesterday, Alberta Premier Ralph Klein revealed his position on the Vriend Supreme Court ruling, which ordered Alberta to include special rights for homosexuals in the province’s human rights code. Despite the pleas of thousands of Albertans, who flooded Klein’s office with phone, fax, email and written messages, Klein refuses to use the constitution’s “notwithstanding clause” to override the decision. Quotes in the national media suggest Klein views Albertans’ concerns with contempt, as if they were motivated by bigotry.  The Premier came out strongly in support of the ruling yesterday, vowing to ensure its passage through […]

UPDATE ON U.S. TRIAL OF PRO-LIFERS

CHICAGO, Apr 9 (LSN) – Lawyers for the National Organization of Women (NOW) are worried about the upcoming testimonies of Norma McCorvey and Sandra Cano in their crucial racketeering case against prominent US pro-life leaders. Ms McCorvey and Mrs Cano were the “Roe” and “Doe” of the 1973 Supreme Court cases Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, which legalized abortion in the US. Both women have since converted to the pro-life cause.  Realizing the women could seriously undermine their attempt to silence the US pro-life movement,  NOW and company obtained a ruling to conceal the women’s history from the […]

LONDON, Apr 8 (LSN) – According to the Scripps Howard News Service, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the UN Population Fund are preparing to issue aid workers with a field manual for “reproductive health” in refugee camps. Some humanitarian aid workers have balked at using the manual, and aid groups Save the Children and Oxfam have removed their names from the manual. Also, […]

U.S. PRO-LIFER PROPOSES AUDIENCE-SENSITIVE STRATEGIES

NEW YORK, Apr 7 (LSN) – In the April edition of First Things, Paul Swope, Northeast Project Director of the Caring Foundation and President of LifeNet Services, writes a thought-provoking article about the latest research on the psychology of modern American women, and their views about crisis pregnancies.  Swope argues the results indicate pro-lifers need to tailor their strategies according to the feelings and thoughts of women. The research in question seeks to understand why most American women are “personally opposed” to abortion,” while favouring “choice.” The findings indicate that most women do not see any “good” coming from an […]

TORONTO, Apr 6 (LSN) – Front and centre on the editorial page of Saturday’s Globe and Mail, the newspaper promoted an article entitled “A modest, gay proposal.” Contributor Morton Rapp argues that “the greatest threat to human survival is overpopulation,” and that the solution is genetic engineering to ensure that most people would be homosexual, with enough heterosexuals simply to ensure survival of the race. “A civilization populated by homosexuals could have some hope of achieving a stable population,  which then opens the door to the possibility of a virtual Utopia on Earth,” he writes. While heterosexuals would “have to […]

ANOTHER DR DEATH RIVALS KEVORKIAN

LOS ANGELES, Apr 6 (LSN) – Last week the Associated Press reported that Efren Saldivar, a respiratory care practitioner at the Glendale Adventist Medical Center, was interviewed by police and confessed to 40 to 50 murders of terminally-ill patients. Although Saldivar admitted he considered himself an “angel of death,” reports indicate that he may never be charged with murder.  State law requires additional evidence to prosecute in such cases, for fear of forced or false confessions. In this case, since the lethal injections which Saldivar said he used to kill some patients deteriorate quickly, corroborating evidence may be hard to […]

Apparently, some doctors feared steroids taken by some of the women might produce “abnormal” children. Manfred Hoeppner of Germany’s Sports Medical Institute said, “During the period of use of anabolic hormones, (athletes)  were ordered to terminate their pregnancy.”
