ROCK WRITES BLANK CHEQUE FOR A.I.D.S.

OTTAWA, May 29 (LSN) – Yesterday, Health Minister Allan Rock announced permanent federal funding for AIDS programs of at least $42.2 million per year without any requirement for review of the programs. The unprecedented step caught even the liberal media off-guard. Other diseases kill more Canadians, but research and treatment for them receive far less government support, leaving some to wonder whether Rock’s announcement reveals questionable priorities on the government’s part.  For example, from the time it was recognized in the early ‘80s until last summer, AIDS has claimed the lives of 11,046 Canadians. NGO’S SHOWN TO BE EXTREMIST ANTI-FAMILY ZEALOTS

GENEVA, May 12 (LSN) – A report released Friday by the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (CAFHRI) indicates many of the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which collaborate with the United Nations hold views which most people would consider extremist and anti-family.  CAFHRI quoted several feminist speakers meeting in conjunction with the 54th Session of the UN Commission on Human Rights to illustrate the point. Valsa Verghese of Change International said that within the family, a “woman’s freedom and dignity is eroded on a daily basis.” Miriam Outara from Anti-Slavery International argued that “one of the greatest violations of women’s rights […]

U.S. MEDICAL SCHOOL CHANGES HIPPOCRATIC OATH

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA, May 11 (LSN)  Medical students graduating at the University of Southern Carolina last week were asked to take an altered, politically-correct version of the Hippocratic Oath.  The ancient doctor’s oath was edited to remove promises against assisting in suicides and committing abortions. GOVERNMENT-REGULATED EMBRYO SCREENING UNDERWAY IN BRITAIN

LONDON, May 11 (LSN) – In Britain, the first children screened as embryos by the government’s Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority have been brought to term. The Independent reported last week that 50 children have been born having survived the scrutiny of scientists prior to being implanted in their mothers’ wombs.  Pro-lifers are alarmed at the blatant eugenics behind the process; but Dr David King, editor of Genethics News, predicts that embryos screening will teach people that “having children is a serious matter which must not be left to chance…[and]…that children have a right to the best genetic chance in […]

SCIENTISTS SAY GLOBAL WARMING DUE TO SUN, NOT PEOPLE

LONDON, May 22 (LSN) – Scientists at the Danish Meteorological Institute have found evidence to support their claim that global warming is due to changes in solar activity, rather than “greenhouse gases”  created by human use of fossil fuels, as the standard environmentalist theory goes. Scientists at the European Particle-Physics Centre in Geneva say that the Danish theory could be tested in two years.  Despite the fact that the “greenhouse gas” theory is disputed in many quarters, many nations have agreed to a drastic reduction in the use of fossil fuels. So far, 34 countries, including Canada, have signed the […]

CHINA’S ONE-CHILD POLICY CREATES HOST OF SOCIAL ILLS

LIBERALS THWART PRO-FAMILY TAX CHANGES

OTTAWA, May 7 (LSN) – The federal Liberal government has thwarted a popular and sorely-needed pro-  family measure proposed by one of its own backbenchers. Last Thursday, the government-controlled committee dealing with private members’ business put a stop to Paul Szabo’s Bill C-244, which would have permitted income splitting between spouses in single-income families. The measure was designed to help end unfair tax discrimination against families with stay-at-home moms.  In recent years, the Chretien government has stacked the committee on private members’ business with its own people. Pro-life observers believe the move is an extension of the Liberals’ repeated public […]
