REGINA, SASK, Aug 26 (LSN) – Evangeline Godron, 64, who in July won a court case allowing her to go topless in public, was charged Tuesday with assault following her refusal to leave a public pool when asked by the manager and police. Regina police Sgt. MINNESOTA, Aug 26 (LSN) – The Sydney Morning Herald reported yesterday on a University of Minnesota study which has shown that babies in utero are exposed to powerful cancer-causing chemicals when their mothers smoke, increasing the children’s likelihood of developing cancer. The Australian Medical Association (AMA)  has commenced a renewed effort to encourage mothers to quit smoking at least during pregnancy. JOHN’S, Nfld., Aug 25 (LSN) – At a meeting of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) yesterday, lawyers discussed their concerns about the absence of Canadian legislation regarding new reproductive technologies (NRTs). CAMEROON, Aug 25 (LSN) – A recent study which found that the spermicide nonoxynol-9 fails to provide “protection” against sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS, used as subjects for the experiment poor African women. American Life League exposed the very disturbing nature of this study. BEIJING, Aug 25 (LSN) – Zenit news service reported last week that a genetics conference which met on August 12 in Beijing was boycotted by several nations in protest of Chinese policies which forbid couples to marry who have “genetic defects or limitations of a serious nature.” Zenit notes that the couples are allowed to marry if they are sterilized and those who ignore the law can be forcibly aborted.  U.S., British, Dutch, and Argentine Genetics Associations stayed away from the conference in protest.  A message sent by The International Genetics Federation said that the Chinese law “based on an […]

CHICAGO, Aug 25 (LSN) – One of the most gruesome procedures used in treating blindness today is the use of eye tissue from aborted babies. TULSA, Okla., Aug 25 (LSN) – Indicating that the pursuit of profit is more important to them than the health and safety of women, a Tulsa abortuary is suing the state of Oklahoma to do away with its law requiring that women wanting late-term abortions be hospitalized.  Late-term abortions have consistently been demonstrated to be a greater risk to women than early and mid-term abortions. SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 24 (LSN) – The US government is handing out $50,000 of taxpayers’ money to the winners of an American condom package design contest, reported American Life League (ALL) on Friday. The contest,  being run by two California advertising agencies, is intended to encourage young artists to design “the coolest condom package.” The monies being used were granted by the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  According to ALL one of the submissions is a parody of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel painting of God and Adam. TORONTO, Aug 24 (LSN) – The Canadian Family Action Coalition (CFAC) urged pro-family advocates last week to increase their lobbying efforts to their local Members of Parliament to protest the federally funded survey of practicing homosexuals being undertaken by the extremist group EGALE (Equality for Gays And Lesbians Everywhere).
