HALIFAX, Oct 27 (LSN) – The case against respirologist Dr. Nancy Morrison who was accused of the mercy-  killing of her patient Paul Mills re-opened in court today. In February, Halifax Provincial Court Judge Hughes Randall dismissed murder charges against Morrison, ruling that there was insufficient evidence to show that her alleged euthanasia attempt actually caused Mill’s death. Now the Crown is appealing Randall’s dismissal of the case.  Crown attorney Craig Boterrill made opening arguments to Justice Jill Hamilton of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court this morning. KARLSRUHE, Germany, Oct 27 (LSN) – The German Constitutional Court ruled today to forbid Bavaria, the largely Catholic province of Germany, from restricting abortions. Government officials of the ruling Christian Social Union in Bavaria legislated that a doctor’s income from abortions could not exceed 25 per cent of his total income and that mothers must justify their decisions to kill their offspring.  The law was challenged mainly by two abortionists who perform two thirds of all abortions in the German province about 6,000 per year.

Jury rules in her favour – awards $2 million settlement   TUPELO, Oct 26 (LSN) – A jury last week found a Mississippi hospital guilty of violating a Christian counsellor’s freedom of religion in favour of homosexual advocacy. The counsellor, Sandra Bruff, was fired from North Mississippi Medical Center for refusing to counsel clients to maintain extra-marital sexual relationships including homosexual relationships. Last week a jury awarded her a $2 million settlement at the expense of the hospital. The medical centre plans to appeal the decision.

WASHINGTON, Oct 16 (LSN) – US pro-life Congressman Chris Smith has succeeded in retaining at least a tacit restriction on US monies going to the UN, saying that they must not be used to promote abortion.  Pro-lifers are angry at Congress for not going further, arguing that the restriction would have little,  if any, effect. LOS ANGELES, Oct 13 (LSN) – On Friday the bodies of 54 aborted babies were handed over to religious groups for Christian burial. The pro-abortion American Civil Liberties Union attempted to file a lawsuit to prevent the burial and have the bodies incinerated. UNITED NATIONS, Oct 9 (LSN) – The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute reported today that the UN’s International Criminal Court (ICC) may be up and running before long. A group called No Peace Without Justice (NPWJ), along with various Member States of the UN General Assembly, have commenced an aggressive campaign for quick ratification of the ICC.  The group hopes to get the ratification of the treaty by the required minimum of 60 nations by the year 2,000.
