SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 28 (LSN) – World leaders, New Agers, New World Order advocates, and population control pundits gathered for the fourth State of the World Forum yesterday. The 5-day event, sponsored by the Mikhail Gorbachev Foundation will cover every thing from “nuclear disarmament to child development, economics to ecology, technology to spirituality, human rights to social change.” The annual gathering cost $5,000 (US) to attend. The forum not too subtly pushes for a one-world government, a one-world economic system and a one-world religion. Setting the tone for the meetings, State of the World Forum President Jim Garrison spoke on […]
NEW YORK, Oct 28 (LSN) – A new UN population report released today has once again pushed the alarmist buttons to mandate population control. Although population predictions for upcoming years have actually been lowered (due to projected deaths from AIDS) the overall picture the UN paints remains dire. Typical of the fear mongering opinion in the report, Lester Brown, founder of the Washington-based Worldwatch said “The question is not whether population growth will slow in the developing countries, but whether it will slow because societies quickly shift to smaller families or because ecological collapse and social disintegration cause death rates […]
WASHINGTON, Oct 28 (LSN) – In recent weeks the pro-abortion movement and homosexual activists have used the deaths of a homosexual youth and an abortionist to engender hatred for and condemnation of pro-life and pro-family advocates. Following the shooting death of abortionist Barnett Slepian, Canadian abortion pioneer Henry Morgentaler said “It’s obvious a person like this wouldn’t have the knowledge of who the target should be and it’s obvious he’s had the help of the pro-life people.”“This casts a stain on the whole pro-life movement as accomplices to murder and violence when they claim themselves to be protecting the fetus,” […]
OTTAWA, Oct 28 (LSN) – In a news release last week, Focus on the Family Canada published a list of declarations on the Canadian Family agreed to by over 20 pro-family and pro-life groups represented at the 11th annual Ottawa Conference on the Family held in early October. The declaration is as follows: 1. The family is an institution ordained by God and rooted in human nature. It exists to satisfy the longings of the human heart to give and receive love, to propagate the human race, and to provide a safe and secure environment in which to nurture, teach […]
HALIFAX, Oct 27 (LSN) – The case against respirologist Dr. Nancy Morrison who was accused of the mercy- killing of her patient Paul Mills re-opened in court today. In February, Halifax Provincial Court Judge Hughes Randall dismissed murder charges against Morrison, ruling that there was insufficient evidence to show that her alleged euthanasia attempt actually caused Mill’s death. Now the Crown is appealing Randall’s dismissal of the case. Crown attorney Craig Boterrill made opening arguments to Justice Jill Hamilton of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court this morning. Boterrill told Hamilton that “a very bad precedent” was set with Randall’s ruling. […]
KARLSRUHE, Germany, Oct 27 (LSN) – The German Constitutional Court ruled today to forbid Bavaria, the largely Catholic province of Germany, from restricting abortions. Government officials of the ruling Christian Social Union in Bavaria legislated that a doctor’s income from abortions could not exceed 25 per cent of his total income and that mothers must justify their decisions to kill their offspring. The law was challenged mainly by two abortionists who perform two thirds of all abortions in the German province about 6,000 per year.
VANCOUVER, Oct 27 (LSN) – BC socialist Health Minister Penny Priddy has shamefully used the shooting death of abortionist Barnett Slepian to promote her political agenda. The Vancouver Sun reported today that Priddy called on federal Health Minister Allan Rock to allow the abortion pill RU-486 into Canada. “The legalization in Canada of RU-486 would significantly reduce the risk to care providers,” Priddy said.
TORONTO, Oct 27 (LSN) – A massive pro-life demonstration took place in Ontario over the weekend with most MPPs’ offices being picketed for the release of Linda Gibbons and Anneliese Stedan, two pro-life prisoners of conscience. Hundreds of pro-lifers were mobilized across the province on Saturday morning from 11am till noon to raise public awareness about the fact that the Conservative government is keeping alive restrictions on free speech and peaceful demonstration initiated by the former NDP government. The New Democrats launched a civil suit against 18 pro-life activists in 1994. A temporary injunction was also put in place preventing […]
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., Oct 27 (LSN) – Initially a hero to Americans as the first person to orbit the earth in 1962, John Glenn has since horrified many as a US Senator because of his perfect pro-abortion voting record. In the face of all the excitement surrounding Glenn’s next voyage into space scheduled for this week, American Life League President Judie Brown offers some unique thoughts. “Astronauts in the space shuttle are so like babies in the womb,” she said. “They are dependent on the shuttle systems for all their life support and protection, just as babies depend on their […]
Jury rules in her favour – awards $2 million settlement TUPELO, Oct 26 (LSN) – A jury last week found a Mississippi hospital guilty of violating a Christian counsellor’s freedom of religion in favour of homosexual advocacy. The counsellor, Sandra Bruff, was fired from North Mississippi Medical Center for refusing to counsel clients to maintain extra-marital sexual relationships including homosexual relationships. Last week a jury awarded her a $2 million settlement at the expense of the hospital. The medical centre plans to appeal the decision.
