UN HEAD KOFI ANNAN PUSHES ONE-WORLD RELIGION

NEW YORK, Oct 14 (LSN) – Recently in New York, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan spoke at the UN-sponsored second annual “Global Religious Service for Peace.” The audience was made up of representatives of Islam, Shintoism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and other religous groups, reported WORLD magazine, an American Christian weekly publication. NOBEL PRIZE AWARDED TO BLASPHEMER

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct 13 (LSN) – On October 8, Jose Saramago of Portugal was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Religion News Today reports that the controversial novelist, playwright and poet produced a blasphemous play depicting a purely human Jesus used by a cynical God to create a religion of pain, death and intolerance. In the play “Jesus” has sex with Mary Magdalene. The Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano described the choice of Saramago as “yet another ideologically slanted award.”

DISNEY FIGHTS CHILD PROTECTION FROM PORNOGRAPHY

WASHINGTON, Oct 13 (LSN) – The American Family Association (AFA) reported Friday that the Walt Disney Company has come out in opposition to a congressional measure that would protect children from online pornography. TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE BILL QUASHED IN HOUSE

OTTAWA, Oct 13 (LSN) – Last week pro-family Liberal MP Tom Wappel presented bill C-225 in the House of Commons hoping to enshrine into Canadian law the accepted definition of marriage as between an “unmarried woman and an unmarried man.” The bill was ruled nonvotable by the controversial House Committee on Private Members’ Business, so Canada’s elected representatives could not vote the measure into law. ABORTED BABIES ALLOWED CHRISTIAN BURIAL

LOS ANGELES, Oct 13 (LSN) – On Friday the bodies of 54 aborted babies were handed over to religious groups for Christian burial. The pro-abortion American Civil Liberties Union attempted to file a lawsuit to prevent the burial and have the bodies incinerated. The bodies were discovered in cardboard boxes in a San Bernardino County field in 1997 having been dumped by a trucker for a Los Angeles abortuary.  The babies were buried Sunday following religious services. WASHINGTON, Oct 13 (LSN) – On Friday the Washington Post reported that scientists at New York University have successfully mixed parts of two women’s ova and fertilized the resulting egg. They have attempted implantation of the embryos created in this fashion twice and are awaiting the results of the second attempt. US HOUSE APPROVES PARENTAL NOTIFICATION LAW

WASHINGTON, Oct 13 (LSN) – The US House of Representatives voted 224-200 on Friday to allow parents to be notified when their minor children are given prescription and abortifacient contraception. The American Family Association noted earlier that under current US law, “Title X Services, which provide contraceptive services to minors in towns across America, must be administered without the notification of a child’s parents.” The bill has yet to pass the US Senate and then the President may yet veto it.
