OTTAWA, Oct 7 (LSN) – In a vote held late yesterday the House of Commons passed legislation giving Canadian parents a “right to know” if a child care applicant had previously been sexually abusive. The bill brought forward by Reform MP Eric Lowther is now sent to the House of Commons’ Justice Committee for examination before being returned to the House for third reading within the next six months.
BEIJING, Oct 7 (LSN) – Catholic World News reported yesterday that on Monday the Chinese government signed the UN International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, a treaty which defines the right of self-determination, prohibits torture, and provides for freedom of movement, religion, expression, and association.
