OTTAWA, Nov 26 (LSN) – The extremist feminist group, National Action Committee on the Status of Women (NAC or NAC SOW by critics) complained to the media yesterday that they might face closure due to financial hardship. The group which boasts among its accomplishments, “decriminalizing abortion” and “loosening divorce laws” calls itself a voice for the women of Canada. In the face of across-the-board federal cuts, the Ottawa branch of the organization had demanded $240,000 from the federal government for the current year to cover operational expenses. Women’s groups representing the concerns of mainstream Canadian women, such as REAL Women […]
LANSING, Michigan, Nov 26 (LSN) – Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca announced Wednesday that he had issued a warrant charging euthanasia activist Jack Kevorkian with first-degree premeditated murder, criminal assistance to a suicide and delivery of a controlled substance. An hour later a smiling Kevorkian turned himself in to police only to be released on the condition he commits no more murders until his December 9th hearing. Prosecutors argued unsuccessfully that Kevorkian should not be released. Michigan Magistrate Robert Crawford ordered the euthanasia activist released on a $750,000 bond despite the fact that Kevorkian has repeatedly defied the courts and […]
CALGARY, Alberta, Nov 26 (LSN) – A Calgary Board of Education meeting Tuesday erupted into fierce debate between school trustees and parents when trustees brought forward a legal opinion on parental rights by John Carleton, a lawyer with Calgary law firm MacKimmie Matthews. Matthews said “In our opinion, there is no general duty on a guidance counsellor to disclose personal information provided to them by a student.” The board has its sights on revising school policy with regard to offering counselling to students based on the legal advice. Currently parents have the right to refuse their children permission to receive […]
WORLD WIDE WEB, Nov 25 (LSN) Yesterday, the ABC news website ABCNEWS.com, in their Health and Living Section, featured a “chat with an abortion provider.” For an hour, visitors to the site were able to have a question and answer session with a very hostile to pro-lifers abortionist. The net result was that the abortionist and the many pro-abortion questioners dominated the “discussion” with outrageous pro-abortion propaganda. The website gave no assurances to concerned Americans that it would be providing equal time to a pro-life leader or ex-abortionist to host such an exchange with the public in the near future. […]
MIAMI, Nov 25 (LSN) U.S. District Judge Donald Graham ruled Tuesday that Florida’s law banning partial-birth abortion was unconstitutional. The judge accepted arguments brought against the law by 4 abortionists and several abortuaries.
SALEM, Oregon, Nov 25 (LSN) – Oregon Health Plan officials held a public hearing Monday on the state’s proposal to cover physician-assisted suicide – taxpayer-funded killing. The Oregon Catholic Conference made strenuous presentations against the implementation of the funding plan to commence on December 1st. Presentations against the planned coverage were also made by the disabled rights group “Not Dead Yet.” Oregon state will have made an explicit commitment to fund death at the expense of life if this proposal is approved, noted disabled activist, Ric Burger, at the hearing. He said: “The fact that the state of Oregon will […]
OTTAWA, Nov 25 (LSN) CBC TV claimed this morning to have received a draft copy of the Report of the Special Joint Committee on Child Custody and Access. The report recommends shared parenting be the norm in cases of divorce rather than sole access. CBC said that the draft report recommended: – Shared parenting should be the legal cornerstone of the Divorce Act, guaranteeing both parents shared access. Currently, sole access almost exclusively by the mother, is treated as normative. – Divorcing parents must agree on a parenting plan either set up voluntarily or with the help of a mediator. […]

Latimer was in police custody only three hours before being released pending the decision of the Supreme Court of Canada on whether or not to hear the appeal. COLOGNE, Nov 24 (LSN) – The German Medical Association said in a statement today that preborn children who have reached viability (around the 24th week) should be given the same right to legal protection as already born children. The Pro-Life Infonet reported that the restriction on these late abortions would also hold in cases where the abortion was being sought for medical reasons. The report said the only exceptions would be in very rare cases in which extremely severe and incurable diseases or developmental deficiencies are present.
PONTIAC, Michigan, Nov 24 (LSN) – Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca, told the media yesterday that he would take his time in filing charges against Kevorkian. “It would be irresponsible for any prosecutor to level charges against any individual based solely on media reports and an edited version of the tape on ‘60 Minutes,”’ he said. The Associated Press noted that Dr. Death could face charges of manslaughter, murder, assisted suicide, practicing medicine without a license or possessing a controlled substance in connection with Youk’s death. The CBS show “60 Minutes” was subpoenaed Monday to provide prosecutors with an unedited […]
