GERMAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION WANTS TO CURB ABORTION

COLOGNE, Nov 24 (LSN) – The German Medical Association said in a statement today that preborn children who have reached viability (around the 24th week) should be given the same right to legal protection as already born children. The Pro-Life Infonet reported that the restriction on these late abortions would also hold in cases where the abortion was being sought for medical reasons. The report said the only exceptions would be in very rare cases in which extremely severe and incurable diseases or developmental deficiencies are present.

Latimer was in police custody only three hours before being released pending the decision of the Supreme Court of Canada on whether or not to hear the appeal.  The Canadian Family Action Coalition revealed today that “Ironically, Latimer was once convicted in Saskatchewan as an accessory to the rape of a 13 year-old girl, but […]

KEVORKIAN “60 MINUTES” MURDER SHOW FALLOUT

PONTIAC, Michigan, Nov 24 (LSN) – Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca, told the media yesterday that he would take his time in filing charges against Kevorkian. “It would be irresponsible for any prosecutor to level charges against any individual based solely on media reports and an edited version of the tape on ‘60 Minutes,”’ he said.  The Associated Press noted that Dr. Death could face charges of manslaughter, murder,  assisted suicide, practicing medicine without a license or possessing a controlled substance in connection with Youk’s death. The CBS show “60 Minutes” was subpoenaed Monday to provide prosecutors with an unedited […]

COURT REVOKES LATIMER’S LAME MURDER SENTENCE

REGINA, Nov 23 (LSN)  Today the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal threw out a lower court’s granting of a constitutional exemption to Robert Latimer, the Saskatchewan farmer who used his car as a makeshift gas chamber to kill his 12-year-old disabled daughter Tracy in 1993. The exemption, based on a supposed motive of mercy killing on the part of Latimer, allowed the father to be given a minimal 2-year sentence (half of which could be served at home) rather than the minimum 10-years in prison without parole for his second-degree murder conviction.

November 23, 1998   The life of Tracy Latimer has been reaffirmed. Campaign Life Coalition is relieved that Robert Latimer will be punished for the murder of his 12 year old daughter and will serve at least 10 years in prison without parole.  The lives of other disabled children may be saved because of this decision. CBS AIRING OF KEVORKIAN MURDER CONDEMNED

NEW YORK, Nov 23 (LSN)  Pro-life groups and even much of the secular media have condemned CBS and its “60 Minutes” program for airing a murder by Jack Kevorkian as a desperate and unprincipled ratings grab. “The decision by 60 Minutes to air a Kevorkian-produced ‘snuff film’ during sweeps week marks a new low in American journalism,” said Rita Marker, Executive Director of the International Anti-Euthanasia Task Force (IAETF). “Even worse,” said Marker, “is the message the program sent to despairing, disabled or dying people – that their killing is acceptable and that their dying can be a matter of […]

CATHOLIC HOSPITAL SAYS FETUSES “NOT PERSONS”?

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (LSN) – St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey was reported by the Associated Press as saying that fetuses are “not persons”  so as to escape a lawsuit brought by the parents of twins who died in utero. The parents charge that the hospital performed an autopsy on the babies without the permission of the parents. The judge in the case dismissed the suit against the hospital after its lawyers noted that family consent to post-mortem examination is only required for a “person” and under New Jersey law the fetus is not considered such.  The […]

CORRECTION FOR LSN NOV 20

In the Henry Morgentaler story, we reported that “abortuaries, including Morgentaler’s,  have no qualms about performing abortions up to and including the ninth month of pregnancy.” Morgentaler has never admitted to aborting babies of this age. He has,  however, readily admitted to killing babies at the 28th week of development.  Furthermore, there is nothing in Canadian law impeding the abortion of babies up to and including the ninth month of pregnancy.
