CANADA SIGNS INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT AGREEMENT

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 21 (LSN)  On Friday, Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy officially signed the UN’s Rome Agreement on the International Criminal Court. CBC Newsworld reported that Canada is the 69th country to sign the accord.  The next step for many countries is ratification. US HOME-SCHOOLERS WIN MAJOR VICTORY

BOSTON, Mass., Dec 21 (LSN)  Last week Massachusetts’ highest court ruled that parents who home-school their children have the right to refuse visits to their homes by school officials. After a seven-year lawsuit, Justice John Greaney ruled that school authorities in the Lynn school district were wrong to require home visits. KEVORKIAN TRIAL IN EARLY MARCH

LANSING, Michigan, Dec 18 (LSN)  Euthanasia activist Dr. (“Death”) Jack Kevorkian will go to trial on 1st degree murder charges in early March, according to Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Jessica Cooper.  Kevorkian in pre-trial hearings Wednesday refused to enter a plea, so his lawyer David Gorosh entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf. NEW YORK, Dec 17 (LSN)  American Life League reported yesterday that over 100 doctors have now signed their “Declaration for Life” which declares that the birth control pill and “emergency contraception” kill babies in the womb. ALL President Judie Brown said that the Declaration is part of an effort to get the truth out about the abortifacient nature of the so-called contraceptive pill. “For years, there has been a conspiracy of silence surrounding the true nature of how contraceptives work,” said Brown. NEW MOVES IN EFFORT TO LEGALIZE HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE IN CANADA

MONTREAL, Sept 15 (LSN)  Yesterday, Michael Hendricks, a well-known gay rights activist in Montreal, and his homosexual partner Rene Leboeuf, filed a complaint with the Quebec human rights commission about the discrimination in law they claim prevents them from being married. The Canadian Press noted that the action was staged to coincide with the 21st anniversary of Quebec’s charter of rights which currently forbids discrimination based on “sexual orientation.”  In September, the pair began proceedings to challenge the Quebec Superior Court in an attempt to gain the right to marry. A trial date is expected in late January.
