CANADA SIGNS INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT AGREEMENT

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 21 (LSN)  On Friday, Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy officially signed the UN’s Rome Agreement on the International Criminal Court. CBC Newsworld reported that Canada is the 69th country to sign the accord.  The next step for many countries is ratification. Once 60 countries have ratified the agreement, the authority of the ICC will be enshrined over all nations, thus eliminating their national sovereignty.  The ICC should be of grave concern to pro-lifers since the document gives the strange term “forced pregnancy” official recognition as a new international crime. Although quite narrowly defined at present,  internationalist radicals […]

WRONGFUL BIRTH SUITS IN CANADA

OTTAWA, Dec 18 (LSN)  A growing number of women who regret having disabled children are launching “wrongful birth” suits against their doctors. Several of these cases were outlined in an article in this week’s Canadian Medical Post. The success of the suits, which penalize doctors for ostensibly failing to encourage genetic testing, or amniocentesis, is very disturbing both in terms of its implications for pro-  life doctors and in terms of what it says about our society’s recognition of the responsibility of parents. Many pro-life doctors refuse to refer patients for amniocentesis and other such tests, so they face a […]

The illicit partisan link on the government site was exposed by the Conservative News Service (CNS) which prompted a preliminary investigation of the situation by the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee. The committee called the profile of the PAC a “gross violation” of the federal ban on using tax money to finance lobbying efforts.  For […]
