EUROPE, Dec 14 (LSN)  On Thursday the Dutch cabinet approved a measure to allow homosexual couples to marry and have all the same legal rights as a normal married couple. The cabinet issued a statement saying “Civil marriage will be made available to people of the same sex. TORONTO, Dec 14 (LSN)  At a meeting in late November radical feminists met at York University in Toronto to discuss the UN’s 1979 Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). The “strategy” meeting sought to place a condition on CEDAW that would bind countries to upholding its dictates. LONDON, ON, Dec 14 (LSN)  On Saturday nearly 100 pro-life demonstrators picketed St.  Joseph’s Health Centre, asking for the removal of abortionist Fraser Fellows from the hospital. This picket comes in response to an investigation into a story published in Chatelaine magazine that described an unnamed abortionist working at a Catholic hospital who admitted to doing abortions there. BUENOS AIRES, Dec 14 (LSN)  On December 8, Argentine President Carlos Menem made a presidential decree proclaiming March 25th the Day of the Unborn Child. The particular day is most appropriate for the mainly Catholic country since March 25th is the commemoration of the Incarnation of Christ (Feast of the Annunciation). DENVER, Dec 14 (LSN)  Mirroring the action of the of the American Psychological Psychological Association last year, members of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) voted unanimously Friday to ban a therapy to help homosexuals overcome their same-sex attraction.  The news is a great setback for those suffering from homosexual attractions. OTTAWA, Dec 11 (LSN)  A press release on Wednesday from Opposition Critic for Families, Calgary Centre MP Eric Lowther cited mounting evidence of the need for tax relief for Canadian families. Lowther’s release was prompted by two statements by concerned citizen groups calling for fairer taxation for families. HALIFAX, Dec 11 (LSN)  Despite the appeals of the pro-life movement in Canada, the Nova Scotia Crown has decided not to appeal the acquittal of Halifax respirologist Nancy Morrison. Crown attorney Craig Botterill said that the Crown would not appeal since “there’s no reasonable likelihood that a further appeal would be successful.”  In May 1997, Halifax Regional Police charged Morrison with murder after finding evidence that she injected her cancer patient Paul Mills with potassium chloride KCl in order to stop his heart. OTTAWA, Dec 11 (LSN)  Recommendations on extending hate crime laws were issued last week by the Federal,  Provincial, and Territorial Working Group on Diversity, Equality, and Justice.
