UNFAIR FAMILY TAXATION IN CANADA

OTTAWA, Dec 11 (LSN)  A press release on Wednesday from Opposition Critic for Families, Calgary Centre MP Eric Lowther cited mounting evidence of the need for tax relief for Canadian families. Lowther’s release was prompted by two statements by concerned citizen groups calling for fairer taxation for families. Both the Canadian Council on Social Development and the Canadian Family Tax Coalition issued reports this week criticizing tax inequalities for Canadian families.  Supporting his contentions, Lowther issued a page of relevant facts:  * A 1995 StatsCan study shows that Canadian men and women want more children than they end up having. CROWN DROPS MORRISON MERCY KILLING CASE

HALIFAX, Dec 11 (LSN)  Despite the appeals of the pro-life movement in Canada, the Nova Scotia Crown has decided not to appeal the acquittal of Halifax respirologist Nancy Morrison. Crown attorney Craig Botterill said that the Crown would not appeal since “there’s no reasonable likelihood that a further appeal would be successful.”  In May 1997, Halifax Regional Police charged Morrison with murder after finding evidence that she injected her cancer patient Paul Mills with potassium chloride KCl in order to stop his heart. Witnesses saw Morrison inject Mills’ IV and claim Morrison admitted to them that the syringe contained KCl. […]

Wired magazine noted today that the group intends to “expand the law to apply to hate crimes based on gender.” Since gender has been defined by the UN (which says there are 5 genders) as including gays and lesbians, pro-family advocates and those concerned with freedom of speech are concerned.  According to Peter Stockland of the Calgary Herald, the federal and provincial justice minister’s met in Regina this fall to discuss toughening up […]

DIVORCE COMMITTEE REPORT A MIXED BAG

OTTAWA, Dec 10 (LSN)  A joint Senate and House parliamentary committee set up to review Canada’s Divorce Act made recommendations to government yesterday. While most of the suggestions are positive certain suggestions have alarmed pro-family advocates.  One positive suggestion asks the government to change the term “custody and access” to “shared parenting.” Also, striking at the heart of the problem of unfair shared parenting arrangements, the committee urged that there be no bias in determining shared parenting arrangements due to the sex of the parent (much to the chagrin of radical feminists). Further, the committee asks for the criminal code […]

Was Rwanda genocide UN supported de-population?

By Steve Jalsevac TORONTO, December 10, 1998 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Today's National Post special report on the Rwandan massacres strengthens the case that the UN could have easily stopped the slaughter but did not want to. Why? And why has General Romeo Dallaire, the key to what actually happened in Rwanda, been experiencing progressive mental health stress in the past year? On April 10, 1996 a relaxed General Dallaire gave a presentation on his Rwandan experiences to a small Toronto audience. The presentation related the many frustrating experiences of a mission hampered by poor support from world powers and related the historical setting […]
