OTTAWA, Jan 27 (LifeSiteNews.com)  Reacting to the outrage expressed by Canadians across the country including at least 70 Liberal Members of Parliament, the federal government announced yesterday that it would intervene in the appeal of the recent BC Supreme Court decision which struck down the law against possession of child pornography. BRASILIA, Jan 27 (LifeSiteNews.com)  A new abortion law in Brazil has lessened the punishment for illegal abortions and expanded the exceptions for which abortions are allowed. According to a Catholic World News report last week, the punishment for abortion will be reduced from 1 to 3 years to 9 months to 1 year and judges will be permitted to suspend punishments. Legal abortions will now be performed for “Genetic defects that make [the] life of the fetus non-viable.” This justification was added to exceptions for a risk to the mother’s life and for incest.
