OTTAWA, Apr 26 (Lifesitenews.com) – The parliamentary health committee, which last week presented to parliament recommendations for increasing organ donations in Canada recommended the mandatory placing of all patients near brain death on organ donor registries. While the committee suggests that families should retain the power to opt out of organ donation, the suggestion met with concern from critics who are wary of moving away from the completely voluntary system of organ donor cards. The chairman of the parliamentary committee Joe Volpe explained the controversial suggestion saying “Effective measures must be based on more than simple good will and intuition.” […]
WASHINGTON, Apr 26 (Lifesitenews.com) – Two studies of U.S. women by a team at Princeton University and the pro-abortion group Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI) found that on average, a woman has a 10 percent chance of getting pregnant despite using contraception in any given year. While the AGI uses the information gathered to push for greater access to contraception, the studies strike at the heart of abortion. As has been said by many pro-life groups over the years, the contraceptive mentality leads to abortion. For more on the Contraception-Abortion link see Human Life International.
VANCOUVER, Apr 26 (Lifesitenews.com) – A pro-abortion leader in Canada has backed out of a public debate with pro-lifer Scott Klusendorf and, in doing so, has revealed the extreme intolerance of the pro-choice to kill movement. Joyce Arthur, of the Pro-Choice Action Network, has written an essay on why she backed out of the debate, and stated: “the right to abortion is not a debatable issue.” She goes so far as to ask: “Would a Jew debate with a Nazi?” Incredibly, in the same essay Arthur, an activist for abortion, evolution, atheism and wildlife, calls pro-lifers “intolerant” and says “the […]

CINCINNATI, Apr 23 (Lifesitenews.com) – A baby, having lived in its mother’s womb for 22-weeks was born alive after an abortion attempt but survived for only three hours afterwards, probably due to lack of medical attention. Nurses at the Women’s Med Center in Dayton, Ohio, where the baby was born on April 6, comforted the dying newborn and named her Baby Hope, but did not provide her with medical care. Connie Boyles, a nurse who held the baby told the press, “Staff who cared for her on the night of her birth have experienced a myriad of emotions from sadness […]
NEW HAVEN, Conn., Apr 23 (Lifesitenews.com) – The head of the 1.6 million member Catholic lay-men’s organization, the Knights of Columbus defended the Vatican against attacks from a group calling itself “Catholics for a Free Choice” (CFFC). While the UN has granted NGO status to CFFC, Supreme Knight Virgil C. Dechant said in a letter to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan that CFFC “is not Catholic in any recognizable sense of the word.” An April 16 letter released Tuesday noted that the CFFC “represents no one and no real issues. The organization’s virtually nonexistent membership seeks support for a pro-abortion, […]

PIORRE, Ill., Apr 22 (Lifesitenews.com) – Female prison inmates and post-abortion prison counsellors are reporting that extremely large portions of incarcerated women have had abortions. The Washington Times reported last week that an inmate who pleaded for post-abortion counselling told one counsellor that “easily 60 percent to 80 percent of this prison’s population have had abortions.” Furthermore, counsellors who have counselled hundreds of inmates for post-abortion stress say that they have “never met a woman in prison who doesn’t blame her incarceration partly on past abortions.” For the full story, reprinted with permission from the Washington Times, see today’s special […]
