HOSPITAL TO ALLOW NURSES TO REFUSE ABORTION DUTIES

TORONTO, Apr 14 (Lifesitenews.com) – It appears that after a six-year-long battle, Markham Stouffville Hospital will finally allow its nurses to refuse to participate in abortions. In a deal, which has yet to be confirmed by the hospital, the hospital would implement a new policy of religious exemption from performing abortions for all nursing staff. Eight pro-life nurses had to bring the hospital before the Ontario Human Rights Commission before an agreement could be reached. Other details of the agreement are to remain confidential. When they were hired in 1990, the nurses advised the hospital of their opposition to participation […]

UN BLASTED FOR EXACERBATING KOSOVO REFUGEE CRISIS

VATICAN, Apr 14 (Lifesitenews.com) – The Vatican’s international news agency, Fides, blasted the United Nations Tuesday, denouncing the damage caused in Albania and Macedonia by the large international relief agencies for refugees. Fides placed most of the blame on the U.N. High Commission for Refugees “which on April 3 promised to install a camp for 12,000 refugees in Kukes before April 7 but, by that date, had not even put up one tent.”  Fides questioned the slow reaction of the UN to assist in the humanitarian crisis with essentials such as shelter, reported the Zenit news service. The news agency […]

60 MINUTES II TO AIR BRAY PIECE WEDNESDAY

TV LAND, Apr 13 (Lifesitenews.com) – Having postponed a 13-minute segment on Michael Bray, an anti-abortionist who refuses to condemn violence against abortionists, CBS plans to air the piece tomorrow night at 9pm Eastern on ‘60 Minutes II’. US pro-life groups have urged the station to report the story fairly allowing for commentary from mainstream pro-life leaders in the US who have all condemned the shootings. Canadian pro-lifers are concerned, having seen the way CBS has reported on life issues in the past, that its coverage will be little better than that of CBC. The Canadian broadcaster only a few […]

UNIVERSAL DAY CARE IN CANADA?

OTTAWA, Apr 13 (Lifesitenews.com) – The federally funded National Council of Welfare (NCW) is the latest voice in the call for universally funded day-care in Canada. The cost would be in the vicinity of $6.3 billion per year. The plan would force this heavy financial burden on taxpayers including those who continue to make the necessary sacrifices to continue to provide their children with the best care available – home care. This latest government sponsored attack on stay-at-home parents comes just after the Liberal government was taken to task over its current tax discrimination policies against stay-at-home parents. The NCW […]

LIST OF PRO-LIFE DOC’S WHO WON’T PRESCRIBE CONTRACEPTIVES

DAYTON, Ohio, Apr 13 (Lifesitenews.com) – One More Soul, a pro-life organization in Dayton has compiled a searchable database of doctors (mostly American) who only recommend natural family planning to their patients, refusing to prescribe artificial contraceptives or perform/refer for abortion, sterilization or in-vitro fertilization. With the growing evidence of the abortifacient nature of most artificial contraceptives, the database has been hailed as a great aid to pro-lifers who would rather patronize doctors whose morals they agree with. (The database is still being compiled.) (with files from Pro-Life E-News)

BAUER VS. DOLE ON ABORTION

WASHINGTON, Apr 12 (Lifesitenews.com) – Republican presidential candidate Elizabeth Dole has finally made public her view on abortion. In a letter written in response to a question at an Arizona Republican Party event last week, she said: “I would support the idea of a constitutional amendment, if it were possible,” she wrote. “But, of course, it’s not.” She added: “There’s been no vote in the House of Representatives in modern times and there hasn’t been a vote in the Senate in 15 years, so rather than engage in dead-end debate, let’s move forward to get some positive things done for […]
