TORONTO, Apr 14 (Lifesitenews.com) – It appears that after a six-year-long battle, Markham Stouffville Hospital will finally allow its nurses to refuse to participate in abortions. In a deal, which has yet to be confirmed by the hospital, the hospital would implement a new policy of religious exemption from performing abortions for all nursing staff. VATICAN, Apr 14 (Lifesitenews.com) – The Vatican’s international news agency, Fides, blasted the United Nations Tuesday, denouncing the damage caused in Albania and Macedonia by the large international relief agencies for refugees. Fides placed most of the blame on the U.N. EL DORADO, TX, Apr 13 (Lifesitenews.com) – U.S. Senator Sam Brownback announced last Friday that the effects of abortion will soon be felt in terms of the economic security of Americans.  Brownback blames abortion for creating a shortage of workers in the U.S. He warned that when baby boomers begin to leave the workforce in the next decade, the Social Security Trust Fund will begin to pay more to retirees than it takes in from current workers.

VATICAN CITY, Apr 13 (Lifesitenews.com) – Monsignor Elio Sgreccia, vice president of the Pontifical Academy for Life, today condemned the UN’s distribution of the abortion causing “morning after” pill to Kosovo refugees. Writing in the Italian Roman Catholic daily l’Avenire, the Catholic leader called the pill an “abortion technique” rather than a contraceptive. “The morning-after pill does not exist… This is an abortion,” said the Bishop.

OTTAWA, Apr 13 (Lifesitenews.com) – The federally funded National Council of Welfare (NCW) is the latest voice in the call for universally funded day-care in Canada. The cost would be in the vicinity of $6.3 billion per year. DAYTON, Ohio, Apr 13 (Lifesitenews.com) – One More Soul, a pro-life organization in Dayton has compiled a searchable database of doctors (mostly American) who only recommend natural family planning to their patients, refusing to prescribe artificial contraceptives or perform/refer for abortion, sterilization or in-vitro fertilization. With the growing evidence of the abortifacient nature of most artificial contraceptives, the database has been hailed as a great aid to pro-lifers who would rather patronize doctors whose morals they agree with. OTTAWA, Apr 12 (Lifesitenews.com) – The Canadian Department of National Defence has released a report indicating that 17 claims were made last year for medical, dental, and relocation benefits for homosexual partners. DND joined other federal departments and agencies in providing full medical and dental benefits to common-law spouses of homosexual employees since July 1996 when the Treasury Board changed its policy in response to a human rights tribunal ruling on “discrimination.” DND received its first claims in 1997. WASHINGTON, Apr 12 (Lifesitenews.com) – A study by the Consumer Product Safety Commission found that many of [America’s] child-care centers have conditions that are hazardous to the safety of children. The study says two-thirds of licensed child-care centers studied by federal investigators last year had at least one condition that could cause harm to children. The CPSC said that today it knows of at least 56 children who died in child-care settings since 1990.
