NEW REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGY LAW COMING IN CANADA

OTTAWA, May 11 (Lifesitenews.com) – This fall the Liberal government will finally introduce legislation to regulate new reproductive technologies (NRT). According to the Ottawa Citizen, it will “ban human cloning, the creation of human-animal hybrids, paying surrogate mothers to bear children and removing sperm or eggs from human corpses.” The legislation will also set up a governmental regulatory body to regulate human genetic and reproductive technologies. This will govern issues such as sperm and egg donation and storage. Canada is one of the few countries where, as with abortion, there is no law restricting or regulating NRTs. Despite a 5-year, […]

CAIRO +5 UPDATE

NEW YORK, May 11 (Lifesitenews.com) – Last Wednesday another negotiating session took place at the United Nations in preparation for the upcoming five year review of the Cairo conference on population and development. The meeting was made necessary because the developing nations are becoming increasingly submissive to the extremism and imperialistic attitudes of radical feminist delegations from western nations, including Canada. Illustrating the conflict over sex related issues, the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, reporting from the UN, said that “during a debate on the financial assistance for the AIDs epidemic, the G-77 attempted to get reference to malaria, […]

COMPANY TO MARKET ABORTION KIT IN CANADA

TORONTO, May 11 (Lifesitenews.com) – This morning Roberts Pharmaceutical Corporation announced an agreement with Gynetics Inc. whereby Roberts received exclusive Canadian marketing rights to PREVEN(TM), the so-called “emergency contraception kit.” The US marketing of PREVEN has met with strong resistance from pro-life forces. Judie Brown of American Life League referred tot PREVEN as nothing more than “a do-it-yourself abortion kit.” Since the emergency contraception kits are designed to work even after fertilization/conception (for up to 72 hours into pregnancy), pro-lifers treat them as a form of abortion. Roberts Pharmaceuticals Canada has recently launched a drug on the Canadian market known […]

ITALY: 10-20 YEAR JAIL TERM FOR CLONING HUMANS

ROME, May 10 (Lifesitenews.com) – A proposed bioethics law in Italy will put scientists in jail for 10-20 years for cloning human embryos. Also, those who engineer fertilization using semen from a donor apart from the married couple, or who use a dead husband’s sperm will incur sentences of 3-10 years. On top of the jail terms, fines from $60,000-$180,000 have been proposed. Scientists found guilty would also lose the right to continue their practice. Shamefully Canada has no law to govern cloning and the practice of other reproductive technologies. (with files from Zenit News)
