MORE DETAILS ON HUMAN CLONING OPERATIONS

WORCESTER, Mass., June 18 (LSN) – Major news media, which only today are reporting on the human cloning story reported by LifeSite this past Monday, have revealed more details on the procedure and its proponents.  The National Post reported today that six private companies in the US and Britain are working on cloning human embryos for “stem cells” and US scientist Richard Seed’s Japanese clinic, promising to produce 500 cloned babies a year, is set to open in August.  The first claim of successful human cloning took place in November and brought fears of animal-human hybrids since the nucleus of […]

LIFESITE NEWSBYTES

* An article on human cloning in the National Post today gives credit to the pro-life movement as being the motivation for government concern over cloning: “However, religious and pro-life advocates say life begins the moment a human egg cell is fertilized by sperm,  creating a complete set of genes. To them, cloning a stem cell is the same as cloning a human. As these groups began to apply pressure, governments began taking the cloning issue seriously.”  https://www.nationalpost.com/news.asp?s2=national&s3=reporter   * American conservative writer Jon Dougherty makes a great case in today’s WorldNetDaily of how abortion supporters and moral liberals are […]

UN MANDATES ABORTION IN NEPAL

KATMANDU, Nepal, June 17 (LSN) – Using surprisingly blunt and revealing language, the United Nations’ Women’s Anti-Discrimination Committee, responding to Nepal’s report on its compliance with the Convention on Elimination of Discrimination against Women, ordered the country to make abortion legal.  The UN report reads:  “On the status of abortion in Nepal, … it was discriminatory for a State party to refuse to legally provide for the performance of certain reproductive health services for women.  To refuse to legally provide reproductive health services to women was discriminatory, and must be taken care of as soon as possible.”  See the UN […]

BALTIMORE, June 17 (LSN) – A Johns Hopkins University study on “The Relation between Funding by the National Institutes of Health and the Burden of Disease” was published in today’s release of the New England Journal of Medicine. The study showed that fundamental indications of the burden of disease such as incidence and prevalence played little role in funding determination whereas factors such as number of healthy years lost to disease did play a role in accounting for the amount of allocated resources.  However, the study revealed that in the case of some diseases such as AIDS and breast cancer, […]

CONTROVERSIAL BRITISH PLAN TO CUT TEENAGE PREGNANCY UNVEILED

LONDON, June 16 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A controversial 60-million-pound British government plan supposedly to cut the number of teenage pregnancies has opposition critics saying that it would “further undermine parental responsibility and suggest we are condoning under-age sex”. The London Telegraph reported yesterday that sections of the plan urge that school nurses be allowed to encourage under-age girls to use contraception even without the knowledge of their parents. A rigorous campaign of sex education in the schools is also proposed and a plan for anonymous sex information via telephone for youth is touted. While the report claims to say nothing on […]
