* In a press release Wednesday announcing funding for new alcohol and substance abuse programs in Ontario, federal Health Minister Allan Rock was quoted as saying: “We know the problems substance abuse causes in families, the scars it leaves on children before and after birth, and the tragic consequences it has for so many of our young people.” Usually when pro-abortion politicians refer to unborn babies as children instead of fetuses, it is inadvertent. AMSTERDAM, July 5 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The government of the Netherlands has given legal recognition to practicing homosexual co-habitants. L’Osservatore Romano, the official newspaper of the Vatican, condemned the decision on Friday. According to Catholic World News, Father Gino Concetti wrote that the policy is “an insult to reason,” noting that the Church will always insist on marriage being restricted to a man and a woman.  The paper reveals that the government is affording same-sex couples the same privileges as married couples including adoption of children or provision for the birth of their “own” children with the assistance of a third […]

UN CAIRO+5 CONFERENCE ENDS AMIDST CONTROVERSY

NEW YORK, July 5 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Despite the valiant efforts of pro-life lobbyists at the United Nations, the Special Session of the UN which met last week to discuss the implementation of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), approved a document replete with anti-life and anti-family directives. Despite vehement objections by the Vatican and other pro-life nation states, the moderator at the conference silenced the dissent, directing the objectors to file their complaints. According to a press release from the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-Fam), there were wins and losses at the conference for pro-lifers.  References […]

FORCING ABORTION ON THE WORLD #1 ISSUE AT UN

NEW YORK, July 2 (LifeSiteNews.com) – United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan addressed the opening session of the 21st special session of the UN’s General Assembly on Wednesday. The special Cairo+5 session was designed to review the success (or failure) in countries’ attempts to implement the population control agenda of the 1994 Cairo conference on population. Setting the tone for the conference, Annan attempted to create an artificial sense of agreement over an issue which has bogged down so many subsequent UN conferences including the prepatory conferences for Cairo+5. “All States now understand that, if they are to provide adequately for […]

CHILD CUSTODY PROTECTION ACT PASSES IN HOUSE

WASHINGTON, July 2 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The US House of Representatives voted 270-159 Wednesday to pass the Child Custody Protection Act. The law would make it a federal offense to circumvent state parental consent laws by taking a minor to another state for an abortion. “It’s encouraging to see the House affirm parental involvement today by voting to protect young girls from sexual predators,” said Family Research Council’s Chief Spokesman Janet Parshall.  Unfortunately it did not pass with a veto-proof margin and President Clinton has vowed to veto the legislation. This, of course, assumes that the bill will get that far. […]

A VICTORY FOR FREE SPEECH

CALGARY, July 2 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Justice Ged Hawco ruled Wednesday that banning information on genetic abortions from the public is not in the public interest. He did, however, rule that the names of doctors and other workers associated with the practice should not be made public. The ruling,  the final agreements of which are to come in the near future, is being seen by many as a solid victory for Alberta Report magazine since it did not publish the names of the doctors and apparently had no intention of doing so. Last month a court order forbade AR from reporting […]

TOP UN AWARD TO VIETNAM FOR ONE-CHILD POLICY

UNITED NATIONS, July 2 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Vietnamese government’s National Committee for Population and Family Planning has been awarded highest honours by the United Nations Population Fund because of their successful one-child policy. Zenit news reported Wednesday that the UN’s Deputy Secretary General praised the population program which aggressively suppresses freedom of choice for women. Calling it an “inspiration”, she further fuelled concerns by pro-lifers that the real agenda of the abortion industry is not freedom of choice for women, but rather the suppression of any choice they may want to make to have children. Apparently, the only acceptable “choice” […]

The BC Court of Appeals decision to maintain the legality of the possession of child pornography is available online. Is Bill Gates, the population control funding fanatic, also a hater of Christianity? It would seem so after reading the feature article in Microsoft’s Slate magazine this week entitled “Does Religion Cause School Shootings?”  The US Senate voted yesterday to maintain a ban on abortion coverage in federal employees’ health insurance plans.
