LIBERALS KILL VELLACOTT CONSCIENCE BILL

The conscience clause legislation (C-207) introduced by Reform MP Maurice Vellacott is scheduled for debate in the House of Commons tomorrow. The bill would protect the employment and education rights of health care workers who refuse to participate in abortions and therefore, simply affirms Charter of Rights protections that are not currently being enforced across the country. The bill received the written support of over 100 Members of Parliament from several, if not all, parties in the House.  Despite the strong non-partisan support for the bill, it was unexpectedly ruled non-votable by the Parliamentary committee for Private Members Business. This […]

CONSERVATIVE LEADER’S WIFE ADVOCATING FULL FUNDING FOR IVF

OTTAWA, Nov 16 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Maureen McTeer, wife of federal Progressive Conservative leader Joe Clark and possible PC candidate in the next election, is showing herself to be more fiscally and morally liberal than the Liberal party. In a new book on new reproductive technologies called “Tough Choices: Living and Dying in the 21st Century,” McTeer calls for full public funding for fertility treatments.  McTeer argues that the only way to control the horrors of the new reproductive trade, such as the sale of the human reproductive materials sperm and ova, is to regulate and fully fund the procedure.  With […]

REFORM PARTY CALLS FOR CANADA TO ENCOURAGE UN REFORM

OTTAWA, Nov 16 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Official Opposition Foreign Affairs Critic Bob Mills released a report yesterday articulating Reform’s foreign policy in which Mills calls the United Nations “corrupt and wasteful.”  Mills suggests that Canada should follow the lead taken by the US of withholding funds until the international organization agrees to needed reforms.  “Instead of bad-mouthing the Americans for not keeping up their part of the payments, we should again ask why they’re not paying, and then we’ll get into the corruption, the socialist organization that it is,” Mills told the Ottawa Citizen.  “If it fails to modernize, if it […]

US CONGRESS AND CLINTON CUT DEAL TO PAY UN

WASHINGTON, Nov 16 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A deal was worked out to pay the United Nations nearly one billion dollars in “back dues” after the Clinton administration agreed to a pro-life restriction on the monies.  Spearheaded by Rep. Chris Smith, the bill forbids the money to be used by agencies that promote abortion abroad.  However, the President retains the power to cancel that provision while sustaining a 3% or $385-million cut to the funds.  The agreement was somewhat forced since the UN threatened to remove the US from the General Assembly if it did not pay over half a billion before […]

TORONTO SCHOOL BOARD BANNING RELIGIOUS EXPRESSION

TORONTO, Nov 15 (LifeSiteNews.com) A draft human rights policy set for approval by the Toronto District Board of Education, while it claims to prohibit discrimination, is likely to suppress the expression of traditional religious beliefs held by any students or staff.
