In Winnipeg, Manitoba the Court of Queen’s bench is dropping the landmark assisted-suicide case against an ailing Winnipeg senior. Bert Doerksen, 83, was to go to trial Tuesday for allegedly helping his wife, Susan, 78, take her own life in November 1997. Provincial justice officials said they dropped the case since Doerksen is near death with terminal cancer. TORONTO, July 31 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Sue Careless, one of the three journalists arrested while photographing the October 1999 protest by Linda Gibbons at a Toronto abortuary, had the charges against her withdrawn Thursday.
