DUBLIN, July 4 (LSN.ca) – A split in the Church of Ireland will become apparent this week as a delegation from the church speaks to a government hearing on abortion. The Sunday Times reported that a recommendation from the church’s medical ethics committee that abortion be legalized in certain circumstances has been withdrawn after opposition from the church’s hierarchy and membership. MELBOURNE, July 4 (LSN.ca) – Australia is embroiled in the abortion debate with a hospital having suspended three senior doctors for having committed a late-term abortion for a woman whose baby had dwarfism. Today results of a survey indicated that 78% of doctors would kill children at 13 weeks gestation if it was discovered that they were dwarfs. UNITED NATIONS, July 4 (LSN.ca) – United Nations talks defining the rules and definitions of crimes and prosecution for the International Criminal Court came to a close Friday. Negotiations will continue in November. US efforts to ensure that Americans would not be prosecuted by the court were denied.
