ROME, Aug 24, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Italian minister for European Union policies Rocco Buttiglione has announced that he intends to reform Italy’s 1994 abortion law to help women to afford to raise children. Mr Buttiglione, leader of the Christian Democrats, insists that women should be given a choice to have financial assistance so they are not under pressure to abort their babies from financial worries. CANBERRA, Aug 23, 2001 (LSN.ca) – On Monday the Australian government approved funding for a national center for stem cell research. Existing law bans the harvesting of stem cells from human embryos but stem cells from human embryos will be acquired from overseas to skirt the law.
