MAN-ANIMAL HYBRID EMBRYOS CREATED AND LIVED TO 32-CELL STAGE

BOSTON, Aug 24, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Diane Cox, who chairs the medical genetics department at the University of Alberta contends that the public perception, and ethical considerations on genetic research are far behind the actual research practices. To illustrate the point, Edmonton Journal columnist Scott Foster points out in an article in Wednesday’s National Post that animal-human hybrids have been created, lived and have been permitted to develop till the 32-cell stage. “Right now, technology is way ahead of ethics. The Canadian population is worried enough about relatively trivial things, let alone such a bizarre concept,” says Cox. Foster points […]

NOVEL USE OF CONDOMS BANNED IN INDIA

BOMBAY, Aug 24, 2001 (LSN.ca) – The United Nations, and European, Canadian and American governments and foundations are known throughout the third world as being much more apt to send condoms and other birth control agents to the third world than needed medical necessities. The ridiculous amounts of condoms sent have made for comments such as “the West is trying to cover Africa with rubber” and other epithets made by witnesses of the programs. Moreover, medical facilities in third world countries are often found to have little in the way of medical supplies and an over abundance of birth control […]

ITALIAN GOV’T MINISTER OUT TO CREATE PRO-LIFE LAW

ROME, Aug 24, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Italian minister for European Union policies Rocco Buttiglione has announced that he intends to reform Italy’s 1994 abortion law to help women to afford to raise children. Mr Buttiglione, leader of the Christian Democrats, insists that women should be given a choice to have financial assistance so they are not under pressure to abort their babies from financial worries. Buttiglione’s plan would see women feeling they must abort their children due to financial reasons, given state aid if they decide to keep their children. Payments could amount to over $700 per month. (Financial Times […]

BOSTON, Aug 23, 2001 (LSN.ca) – In a startling ruling, a state education who was fired for describing in detail to children disturbing and bizarre homosexual sex acts, was ordered reinstated with back pay. SATELLITE AND CABLE CO. OFFER HOMOSEXUAL CHANNEL BUT NOT CATHOLIC ONE

TORONTO, Aug 23, 2001 (LSN.ca) – LifeSite has learned that one of the two satellite companies in Canada and one of the four major cable companies are offering a 24 hour 7-day-a-week homosexual channel to customers but not offering the highly acclaimed and sought after Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). However, the blame for the offering of the homosexual channel is due the government rather than the service providers since the government’s communications regulator the CRTC, mandated the coverage of the homosexual station. The only other satellite company in Canada does not list EWTN among its new channel lineup and […]

BUSH STEM CELL DECISION FLOUTED AND HIS COMPROMISE QUESTIONED

Falwell Called Bush Decision “Finest Hour As President” SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 23, 2001 (LSN.ca) – The spirit of President Bush's decision to restrict funding on embryonic stem cell research is being flouted by a recent decision by the University of California in San Francisco. It is setting up an off-campus privately funded lab to conduct embryonic stem cell experiments outside of Bush's guidelines. International journalists were confused by the length and gravity of Bush's deliberations on the stem cell decision, assuming that he was banning the actual practice of destroying human embryos for research purposes rather than only restricting public […]
