CANADIAN GOV’T FUNDS PLANNED PARENTHOOD TO TARGET LATIN AMERICA

OTTAWA, November 23, 2001 (LSN.ca) – The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is funding Planned Parenthood Canada $982,000 to target “adolescents and youth in Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador and Jamaica.” The funding, announced Tuesday by International Cooperation Minister Maria Minna, is to “reduce the incidence of teen pregnancy, increase the practice of healthy sexual behaviour and improve sexual and reproductive health services.” In other words, the project will promote graphic morally-neutered sex education and push for teens to have access to contraceptives and abortion.
