PARIS, January 22, 2002 (LSN.ca) – A French government bill which permits destructive research on human embryos passed first reading in the National Assembly today. The bill by France's socialist government tabled only last week, would overturn a 1994 ban on research on human embryos. The bill bans all human cloning, barring also cloning “for therapeutic purposes.”

TORONTO, January 22, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Since January 1, Toronto police have found about a half a million pornographic pictures of children, some as young as six months old. Three people have been arrested and 200 others have been identified as having distributed child pornography. “These are individual children and there’s well over 10,000 that we can tell are different children,” said Staff Inspector Gary Ellis of Toronto’s sexual assault squad.
