WINDSOR, April 9, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Pro-life activist Earl Amyotte had 2 graphic signs depicting aborted babies confiscated by Canada Customs officers on Saturday. However, on Monday Amyotte was told that the signs were deemed not offensive and he could pick them up. However, Amyotte insisted that the, wrongly confiscated signs, be delivered to his home – which they were. Canada Customs spokesman Danny Yen told the Windsor Star that the signs were reviewed Monday morning by a specialist in the area of obscenity. “They were deemed not to be obscene,” said Yen. WASHINGTON, April 9, 2002 (LSN.ca) – A man who developed Parkinson's disease has been seemingly cured after a transplant of his own brain stem cells. Dr. Michel Levesque of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles led a team of scientists who extracted a pea-sized portion of the patient's brain and then nurtured stem cells from it. Once reinjected into the patients brain the cells began producing dopamine and his Parkinson's symptoms subsided. UNITED NATIONS, April 9, 2002 (LSN.ca) – United Nations officials confirmed yesterday at the beginning of a session of the Preparatory Commission for the International Criminal Court (ICC) that the ICC would come into being this Thursday, April 11. Canadian Phillipe Kirsch, Chairman of the Preparatory Commission, said a number of countries have informed the UN that their already completed ratification of the Rome Statute on the ICC will be officially deposited with the UN Thursday.
