WASHINGTON, April 8, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Over a thousand schools and colleges across the country are getting ready to participate in a National “Day of Silence” to take place this Wednesday, April 10, 2002. The event is sponsored by GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network) and the USSA (United States Students Association). CHURCH AND SENATOR DENOUNCE AUSTRALIA’S APPROVAL OF EMBRYO RESEARCH

MELBOURNE, April 8, 2002 (LSN.ca) – As Australian Prime Minister John Howard agreed to allow destructive research on human embryos, the move was condemned by the Catholic Church and Tasmanian Senator Brian Harradine. NEW YORK CITY HOSPITAL INTERNS TO BE GIVEN ABORTION TRAINING

Concerns That Choice to be Excepted for Moral or Religious Reasons May be Removed NEW YORK, April 5, 2002 (LSN.ca) – New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has backed a program to have obstetrics and gynecology residents in the city’s public hospitals routinely trained to perform abortions rather than having the option available as an elective.
