BERLIN, April 26, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Yesterday the German parliament gave final approval to a law allowing imports of human embryo stem cells for research. The vote was 369 to 190 with nine abstentions. While existing German law forbids the use of human embryonic stem cells coming from Germany it did not explicitly forbid imports. The imports will only be allowed for embryonic stem cells produced before Jan. 1, 2002 so as to curb incentives for researchers to manufacture more stem cells.

Higher Rates of Depression Persist Over At Least Eight Years SPRINGFIELD, Ill., April 25, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Agencies which assist post-abortive women have concurred with a recent study published in the January 22 edition of the British Medical Journal. The study examined a national sample of 1,086 American women who had a history of unintended first pregnancies. ROME, April 24, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Italian fertility doctor, Severino Antinori, told Italy state television on Wednesday that three cloned pregnancies exist in the world at the moment. “There are three pregnancies,” Antinori said in response to the question of how many cloned pregnancies existed. He said two of the three pregnancies were developing in Russia and one in an “Islamic state” and that they were six to nine weeks along.
