OTTAWA, April 22, 2002 (LSN.ca) – On April 23 Canadian Alliance Family Issues Critic Larry Spencer will present a motion in parliament to address child pornography and the low age of sexual consent. The motion will include provisions to prohibit the creation and use of child pornography. VANCOUVER, April 22, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Joyce Arthur, Director of the BC Pro-Choice Action Network (BCPCAN), has sent a letter to the Charities Directorate and the federal Minister of National Revenue demanding that the charitable tax status of the Pro-Life Society of BC (PLSBC) be revoked. Arthur requests that the Charities Directorate conduct an audit of PLSBC arguing that the pro-life group is operating outside of the guidelines for registered charities. UPDATE ON ANGELA BISSONNETTE The treatments for 7 year old Angela’s severe condition were delayed because of more bone marrow donor tests and the onset of chicken pox within the family. This would have been deadly to Angela during chemotherapy. Chemotherapy has finally started today at Sick Kids and the very difficult bone marrow transplant procedure is now scheduled to take place on Thursday. Angela’s sister Marie Clare will be the donor and will have needles inserted about 100 times into her pelvic bone. Angela has become very weak but her bravery has been an inspiration.
