B.C. TEACHER’S UNION CAUGHT IN FREE SPEECH HYPOCRISY

QUESNEL, B.C., November 27, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The lawyer for Chris Kempling, the B.C. public school teacher now being persecuted by his own union for private opinions expressed in letters to the editor of the local newspaper, told a B.C. College of Teachers (BCCT) hearing last Monday that there is no evidence Kempling “poisoned the atmosphere in his classrooms.”  Because Kempling’s letters were critical of the homosexual agenda, the usual defenders of free speech have kept their distance. The B.C. Civil Liberties Association is standing aloof. Kempling’s union, the B.C. Teachers’ Federation (BCTF), are paying only half of his legal […]

US MEDIA HUNGRY FOR BUSH STAND ON ROE V WADE

WASHINGTON, November 27, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Spurred on by a Washington Post story which indicated that the Republicans were ready to move on the pro-life agenda, White House spokesman Ari Fleischer was questioned repeatedly yesterday on the President’s stand on the Roe v. Wade case.  Fleischer did not answer the question directly, responding only generally that President Bush is pro-life.  The Post quoted Republican Conference Chairman Rick Santorum (Pa.), the Senate GOP’s third-ranking leader, as saying that President Bush and the Republican-led Congress will take the country in a “more conservative direction” in the next two years. “There are a […]

BUFFALO, November 27, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The judge presiding over the trial of James C. Kopp, who last week admitted to shooting abortionist Barnet Slepian in 1998, has placed a gag order on the case for the remaining months before the trial opens in February.  Judge Michael D’Amico ordered Kopp, his attorneys and prosecutors to refrain from discussing evidence or testimony before the trial. PRO-LIFE HAWAIIANS WIN RIGHT TO BROADCAST ADS

HONOLULU, November 27, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Hawaii Right to Life has won the right to begin broadcasting ads in a special election this week, in what is being described by media as a “setback” for the U.S. government’s early efforts to enforce its new campaign finance law.  U.S. District Judge Henry Kennedy granted a temporary injunction that allows the pro-lifers to air commercials in the state’s special congressional election campaign. He said the group qualifies for the exemption because it received only $50 in corporate contributions.  For more details see:  https://abcnews.go.com/wire/Politics/ap20021127_551.html

PHILIPPINE PRIEST TAKES ABORTIFACIENT IUD SERIOUSLY BY REFUSING COMMUNION

BUKINDNON, Philippines, November 27, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) – While the pro-abortion leaning media have lashed out at him, a Philippine parish priest is being praised by his archdiocese for preaching against the use of abortifacient IUDs.  The Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that a parish priest, Fr. Joseph Schwegmann, has refused communion to women who refused to remove the abortifacient devices.  The pro-abortion Population Commission was infuriated to learn that at least 24 women had removed the abortifacient devices.  However, when contacted about the incidents, the archdiocese praised the faithful priest.  Msgr. Rey Monsanto, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de […]
