U.S. Black Leaders Repudiate Same-Sex Marriage as the New “Civil Rights Movement”
NEW YORK, November 28, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Rev. William Sinkford, a black man who is president of the Unitarian Universalist Association, said “the struggle for gay civil rights is this generation’s great challenge, just as equality for blacks was the last generation’s”. This statement followed on the heels of the November 18 Massachusetts Supreme Court order to legalize same-sex marriage in that state. The Massachusetts court cited landmark laws that struck down bans on interracial marriage as a comparison for the same-sex marriage issue.
