Thoughts of a Sidewalk Counselor

By Cassidy Bugos Note: Cassidy Bugos is a student-counselor with Christendom College’s Shield of Roses (see: https://www.therambleronline.com) and describes Cassidy’s experience as a student sidewalk counselor outside of the Planned Parenthood abortion mill in Washington D.C. I only began sidewalk counseling last fall, and I’ve not been able to keep it up steadily. God willing, I’ll do better this semester. It’s funny that I’ve found it so hard to keep up, as I’ve wanted to be a sidewalk counselor ever since I was quite little. When I was going to Shield simply to pray, during my freshman year, I went almost every week, with […]

By John Jalsevac FRONT ROYAL, Virginia, August 8, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – College students are not exactly renowned for their ability to wake up at the crack of dawn, especially on Saturday mornings, when they typically catch up on a week’s lost sleep and recover from a hard night of partying the night before. Yet, at one small college in Virginia, for almost three decades now, students have woken up as early as 6:30am every single Saturday morning when school is in session, to attend 7:00 Mass and then travel the hour and fifteen minutes to the Planned Parenthood Clinic in […]

Douglas A. Abbott, PhD, a professor of Child, Youth, and Family Studies at the University of Nebraska, calls the “hypothetical evidence” for genetic determinism of homosexuality” both “overstated” and “overrated.” “Except for the rare physical abnormalities (such as Huntington’s Disease) at the present time, there is no evidence of a direct causative link between a single gene and […]

Iowa Catholic School Board Upholds Catholic Identity – Accepts Resignation of Divorced and Remarried Teacher

By Hilary White    DUBUQUE, Iowa,  August 8, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Members of the Waterloo Cedar Valley Catholic School Board voted unanimously last night to accept the resignation of a teacher, Tom Girsch, 59, who had remarried after a civil divorce, but who, in the eyes of the Catholic Church, is still married to his first wife. The vote follows a previous vote in July when the board declined to accept the former teacher’s resignation.   Catholic teaching does not recognise civil divorce as dissolving a marriage, and considers that a person who remarries without a declaration of nullity (i.e. that […]
