Planned Parenthood Sued for Violating Abortion Parental Notification Laws

Planned Parenthood Sued for Violating Abortion Parental Notification Laws by LifeSiteNews.com CINCINNATI, OH, April 5, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – On March 29, 2005, Life Legal Defense Foundation (LLDF) -associated attorney Thomas Condit filed suit against Planned Parenthood of the Southwest Ohio Region on behalf of a Hamilton County couple who claim their daughter was coerced into an abortion by an adult boyfriend with the connivance of Planned Parenthood employees. Based on the allegations in the complaint, LLDF believes that this case, Roe v. Planned Parenthood, indicates a common practice of covering up for statutory rape at Planned Parenthood. Catholic Church in Mexico Demands Physicians Resist Mexico City Abortion Law by LifeSiteNews.com By Peter J. Bishop Says D&P Funds to ‘Pro-Choice’ Groups Okay if Restricted to Good Projects

Bishop Says D&P Funds to ‘Pro-Choice’ Groups Okay if Restricted to Good Projects by LifeSiteNews.com Editorial by John-Henry Westen August 17, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – One question in the Development and Peace (CCODP or D&P) story which has not yet been addressed is that of the disagreement over the issue of whether it is acceptable to fund beneficial projects in the developing world which are undertaken by groups which also advocate for abortion. Even though this consideration is central to the D&P controversy, it has never been addressed since the D&P tactic of deceptive denial has stifled debate. At least one […]

Great video of dad fighting school board in court over forced sex-ed classes

January 31, 2013, (LifeSiteNews.com) – Just as Ontario’s new Premier Kathleen Wynne has announced plans to reintroduce an explicit sex-ed program, the Marriage Anti-Defamation Alliance, and our friend Damian Goddard have released a great video about a striking case where exactly this type of program has been used as a battering ram against parental rights. Wynne, the first open homosexual to lead either provincial or federal government in Canada, was the architect of Ontario’s controversial equity and inclusive education strategy during her years as Minister of Education. She was also behind this new sex-ed program, which would have students learning […]

Former abortion clinic escort arrested for 'bumping' pro-lifer with car

by Andy Moore of AbortionWiki.org A former escort at a South Carolina abortion clinic decided to start the year off with a bang. Literally. Larry Carter Center (mug shot right) is a former Green Party candidate for the S.C. House of Representatives and well-known socialist activist. He has also worked as a volunteer escort for the Charleston Women’s Medical Center abortion business. On January 12, as Carter was driving his teal sedan out of the parking lot of the abortion business, he “bumped” 81-yr-old pro-lifer William Gasque in the knee with his front bumper. Gasque filed a complaint with the police four days later. Local 40 Days for Life leaders shared that “the police seemed genuinely disturbed by what they saw […]

Canadian Press should win the award for worst pro-abortion reporting ever

Pro-lifers often complain about pro-abortion bias in the mainstream media, but this has got to be one of the worst cases I’ve ever seen. Last week, three Canadian MPs called on the RCMP, the country’s federal police, to investigate data released by Statistics Canada showing that 491 babies had been left to die after they were born alive following failed abortions. The existence of this data was revealed by a pro-life blogger in October, confirmed with StatsCan by LifeSiteNews in November, and ignored by the big media outlets for over three months. Today the story finally broke into mainstream media […]

Pro-aborts really worried about low abortion rate in PEI: the coathanger lie exposed

Note: This column was originally printed in November 2011, but is reprinted now as the abortion debate in Prince Edward Island heats up once again. For weeks now, national news organizations have been breathlessly covering a handful of abortion advocates referring to themselves as “reproductive freedom fighters” and their fight to bring abortion access to Prince Edward Island. The Guardian, the Globe and Mail, The National Post, and the CBC are all eagerly quoting every word uttered by the abortion advocates, excited to finally have protestors on the “pro-choice” side of the issue with things to say. However, CBC News inadvertently published an […]

'The perfect moment': when dying mother met the newborn daughter she sacrificed her life for

In October of last year we reported on the case of Stacie Crimm, an Oklahoman mother who put her unborn daughter's life above her own. Crimm had been diagnosed with an agressive brain tumor, and opted against receiving chemotherapy over fears it would harm or even kill her unborn daughter. Today, I ran across a video of Stacie's brother describing the moment when Stacie met her daughter for the first time on her death bed. It…well…it's a tear jerker, to say the least. “No greater love has any man than this, to lay down his life for his friend.” Click […]

Accomplishment #2: Pregnancy centers have given women the help they need to choose life

NOTE: This article is one of a series on the “top ten” accomplishments of the pro-life movement over the past 40 years since unborn children were stripped of their legal right to life by the 1973 Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton Supreme Court rulings. One of the most common objections leveled against the pro-life movement is that we “don’t care about women”—that we’re obsessed with fetuses and neither understand nor really care about the plight of women facing untimely pregnancy. It seems to have passed the notice of these critics that at least half of those involved in the pro-life movement, from grassroots volunteers […]

Planned Parenthood says its services are necessary in Oklahoma: the numbers show otherwise

Co-authored with Veronika Johannsen A local Planned Parenthood facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma is set to close its doors beginning February 1, 2013 after losing funding for the Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC) at the beginning of this year. This marks a new front in the defunding battle as Planned Parenthood continues to be on the defensive regarding many of the various services it bills to the government. The Oklahoma State Department of Health chose not to renew its contract with the organization in September 2012, citing a low-case-load and higher cost of patient participation. This decision is justifiable, especially considering […]

Weird NARAL video compares abortion to chewing gum

The pro-abortion group NARAL has just launched a bizarre new video that places abortion on the same moral plane as getting a haircut, picking a sweater, going for a jog or chewing gum—all, apparently, things that a woman can “choose to do with her body,” just like abortion. All this by way of introduction to their new “Choice Out Loud” campaign—or as they style it, “experience”—featuring various slogans about “choice” linked to professional photographs of models. It’s all very odd. I was tuned into this project via an email from NARAL president Nancy Keenan, who is retiring soon. Apparently she didn’t get the memo from Planned Parenthood about […]

MTV ‘16 & Pregnant’ couple stands for life at youth pro-life conference

I was fortunate enough to be in the second row, center stage, when this great young couple spoke at the Students for Life of America conference on January 26. Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra were made famous on MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” in 2009 when they decided to place their daughter Carly for adoption. MTVcontinued to track the couple in its “Teen Mom” series through 2012. Since then the two have become strong advocates for adoption, speaking around the country at high school and college campuses. And lately, Catelynn and Tyler have become more outspoken advocates for the sanctity of preborn human life as well, much to the chagrin of abortion pushers. I don’t think video […]

Beautiful poem gives hopeful voice to post-abortive suffering and shame

The emotional and spiritual pain that women experience after abortion is something that abortion-advocates want to keep buried. Women are told that they will simply “get over it”. Well, they don’t. Ever. Yet, many post-abortive women arise from the ashes of their shattering choice and find ways to communicate their deep wells of pain, loss, and grief. Their only desire is to spare their sisters from making the same mistake. In this they find healing and peace. The following poem by Amanda Lewanski is making the rounds in social media. Ghost in the House, written in 2000, sensitively reveals the […]

Pro-abort group pulls creepy ‘Happy anniversary, baby’ video

Sometime, somewhere, somebody at the Center for Reproductive Rights thought it was a good idea to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade by shooting a video with a famous actor repeatedly addressing the court decision that legalized abortion as “baby” in his sleaziest “sexy” voice, while grunting like a pig in heat, and occasionally laughing demoniacally. Apparently, it no longer seems like such a good idea. Yesterday, CRR’s bizarre video was featured on their site and on Youtube. But last night – voila! – it vanished. (Although, as we know, nothing ever disappears completely from the web, and […]

BREAKING: Abortion clinic security guard pepper-sprays pro-lifers (VIDEO)

This morning pro-lifers were singing and praying in front of Mississippi’s lone remaining abortion clinic when a security guard pepper-sprayed three of them in the face. The aggressor was Roy Benjamin, a private, armed security guard who works for Jackson Women’s Health Organization, in Jackson. Clinic staff had placed an oscillating sprinkler on the public sidewalk to spray pro-lifers (also blocking the entrance to patrons). Benjamin apparently became incensed after 15-yr-old Jim Zastrow put his shoe over the oscillator to keep it from spraying his father Cal, who was witnessing to mothers and staff on the public sidewalk next to […]

‘After Tiller’: ‘heartfelt’ film about late-term abortion providers is a deluge of propaganda

This is one of those stories where it helps to take a deep breath, and remember that because of the lies surrounding abortion, many people simply don’t realize what they are defending. They are on a sort of moral crusade as well, one which they would say is about defending women’s rights. That being said, however, sometimes the gap between “good intentions” and actions is harder to understand. Such is the case when artists set out to tell “a more human” story about abortion, and end up leaving out crucial information that any journalist would naturally find important. This is […]

Roe and public opinion at 40

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision. Much has been written about this from a pro-life perspective. But especially interesting is the manner in which the mainstream media has chosen to cover this anniversary. With few exceptions, the mainstream media seems to represent a very pessimistic pro-choice movement.  Many Beltway abortion-rights supporters are doubtless pleased with the reelection of President Obama.Yet the January 14 Time magazine cover story, Sarah Kliff’s January 14 Washington Post article, and, to a lesser extent, Gail Collins’s January 10 New York Times column all suggest that supporters of abortion […]

Spanish Medical Expert: Damage to Women Caused by Abortion is Scientifically Proven by LifeSiteNews.com By Matthew Cullinan Hoffman GUATEMALA, February 17, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – An eminent Spanish biologist and bioethicist recently gave an interview in Guatemala stating that science has proven the damaging effects of abortion on the victim’s mother. Dr. Natalia Lopez Moratalla has a master’s degree in bioethics and a doctorate in biology, and is the former director of the Interfaculty Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Navarra Medical School in Spain. She currently acts as an advisor to Spain’s parliamentary subcommittee studying the […]

Accomplishment #9: More and more Americans are calling themselves pro-life

NOTE: This article is one of a series on the “top ten” accomplishments of the pro-life movement over the past 40 years since unborn children were stripped of their legal right to life by the 1973 Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton Supreme Court rulings. In 1995, the Gallup polling company asked Americans for the first time whether they consider themselves “pro-life” or “pro-choice” with respect to abortion. Only 33% answered “pro-life,” while 56% said they were “pro-choice.” By 2002 the gap had tightened, and in 2009, Gallup reported a majority of 51% lining up under the pro-life banner, […]

Russian adoption ban gets partial reprieve days after taking effect

A law that was supposed to take effect this month barring the adoption of Russian children by Americans has been granted what some are calling a “miraculous” reprieve. The law signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin was set to take effect January 1, leaving in limbo orphans who were in the process of being adopted by American families. In fact, it had already been enacted, so the sudden reversal based on this agreement is a mystery, but a welcome one. The Washington Post reports, “the Kremlin suddenly announced Thursday evening that the measure would not go into effect for another […]

Extraordinary Governor Perry statement on Obama Executive Actions

Governor Rick Perry, whose run for the Republican presidential nomination was crippled by a very painful back condition he was enduring at the time, today issued what I consider to be an extraordinary statement from a politician. Perry was responding to President Obama's Executive actions mandating new gun controls in response to the Newtown massacre of little children. His message was partially along the lines of my Dec. 18 blog post Newtown is a warning. Without taking any position on American gun laws myself, I have to agree that the president has crassly exploited the Newtown tragedy for his political […]

Pro-life laws endanger women?: RhRealityCheck study fails to deliver

On Tuesday, the website RhRealtyCheck.org hosted a conference call to announce the release of a new study entitled “Arrests of and Forced Interventions on Pregnant Women in the United States, 1973–2005: Implications for Women’s Legal Status and Public Health.” This study, authored by Lynn Paltrow and Jeanne Flavin, appeared in the peer reviewed Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law. The study analyzes data between 1973 and 2005. It reports on 413 cases where a woman’s pregnancy was a factor which led to deprivation of her physical liberty, such as an arrest, a detention, or a forced placement in a […]

Accomplishment #10: We have kept abortion on the front page

NOTE: This article is one of a series on the “top ten” accomplishments of the pro-life movement over the past 40 years since unborn children were stripped of their legal right to life by the 1973 Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton Supreme Court rulings. In March 2011, I helped organize the first pro-life protest ever to hit the campus of Ghent University in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. I had been warned by my hosts, a vibrant group of young pro-life activists, that the Belgian people just don’t care about the abortion issue. But nothing could have […]

Abortion is a ‘sacred value’?: the pro-choice movement finds religion

It’s not often that an abortion advocate writes or does something that actually surprises me. I’ve seen them compare babies to excrement and to parasites, I’ve seen them claim that pro-life women don’t actually qualify as females, and I’ve seen them dressed up in enormous foam penis costumes. But today, the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada’s proudly godless and happily pro-all-abortion Joyce Arthur actually posted something that caught me by surprise: an article entitled “Abortion as a Blessing, Grace, or Gift-Changing the Conversation about Reproductive Rights and Moral Values.” To this, the suddenly spiritual Ms. Arthur added the tagline, “Here’s […]

‘Accepting Evangelicals’ – the new ‘evangelicals’ who back same sex marriage

With the government set to debate ‘gay marriage’, I am constantly asked on social media why I cannot, like ‘other more loving and tolerant Christians’, accept same sex ‘marriage’ as an expression of love and commitment between two people of the same sex. Several people have referred me to an article in the Independent last week titled ‘Happy and Clappy and out of the closet: Evangelicals who say gay is OK’. The implication is that if some evangelicals are welcoming same sex marriage then evangelicalism per se should not be a barrier to others moving in the same direction. Many […]

Here’s the trailer… Crescendo features faces you may know, like former Miss USA and Bella star Ali Landry, and faces Americans […]

Catholic Priest to Withhold Communion from Pro Gay “Marriage” Politician by LifeSiteNews.com COBALT, Ontario, March 3, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Catholic priest said he would deny Communion to his parishioner – Catholic NDP Member of Parliament for Timmins-James Bay, Charles Angus – because of his support for same-sex “marriage” legislation. Pastor of Angus’s St. Patrick’s parish in Cobalt, Fr. John Lemire, told LifeSiteNews.com Thursday that Angus’s position became public on January 19, after the Northern News published a story stating the MPs position. Fr. Recovered “Vegetative State” Patient Kate Adamson Speaks Before Schiavo Rally

Recovered “Vegetative State” Patient Kate Adamson Speaks Before Schiavo Rally by LifeSiteNews.com CLEARWATER, FL., March 14, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – On Saturday a rally of over three-hundred of Terri Schiavo’s most die-hard supporters heard the first-hand account of the sufferings and remarkable recovery of Kate Adamson. Struck down in 1995 at the age of thirty-three by a rare double brainstem stroke, Kate, then a mother of two young girls, was completely paralyzed; she was unable even to blink her eyes. Like Terri Schiavo, the medical staff treating her questioned the merit of continuing granting Kate the most basic human right of […]

New Orleans Doctors Kill Patients Rather Than Leave Them to Looters, Then Flee by LifeSiteNews.com NEW ORLEANS, September 12, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A doctor from hurricane-ravaged New Orleans has admitted to euthanizing patients, rather than leaving them to potential death at the hands of looters. In an interview with the UK’s The Mail on Sunday, a doctor, whose name was protected by the euthanasia-supportive Daily Mail media, claimed that those who were killed were killed out of “compassion.” “This was not murder, this was compassion,” the doctor emphasized. “They would have been dead within hours, if not days. New Orleans Hospital Workers Subpoenaed for Euthanasia Investigation by LifeSiteNews.com NEW ORLEANS, October 28, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Subpoenas for 73 staff workers from New Orleans Memorial Medical Center have been issued by the state’s Attorney General, after allegations that patients there were euthanized following hurricane Katrina. The subpoenas were issued because of the number of nurses refusing to speak to state investigators, Attorney General Charles Foti Jr. told USA TODAY Wednesday. Pastor Rick Warren: Obama’s Plan to Make Abortion “Legal” and “Rare” Contradictory by LifeSiteNews.com By Peter J. However, he says the president’s position on keeping abortion “rare” actually depends on the contradictory premise that all life begins at conception. Warren made his comments during a Nov. 29 appearance on Meet the Press, saying that 36 years of legal abortion […]

We’re not just ‘pro-life.’ We’re anti-abortion.

Planned Parenthood is abandoning the “pro-choice” label after forty long years. According to Jezebel, “after exhaustive research, Planned Parenthood is abandoning the limiting and confusing terms ‘pro-life’ and ‘pro-choice’ in hopes of reaching more women who don’t identify as ‘pro-choice’ but still support and need their services.” The decades long war of language—pro-choice? Pro-abortion? Pro-life? Anti-abortion?—is coming to a fork in the road. It’s not a particularly surprising decision considering polling numbers that indicate clearly that Americans find the “pro-choice” label far too tainted—largely, as I pointed out recently, because of the increasingly rigid extremism shown by the abortion crowd. Could this year’s March for Life be bigger than Obama’s inauguration?

Every four years, DC’s annual March for Life follows mere days after a presidential inauguration. Based on past numbers, we might expect the March to be a mere blip in comparison, and certainly it is in the eyes of the media, which loves to ignore it. In 2009, Obama’s inauguration drew an estimated 1.8 million while the March for Life attracted around 200,000. Still, with support for the March growing every year and Obama’s popularity waning, could it be that this year’s March for Life on Jan. 25th might actually be larger than Obama’s Jan. 21st inauguration? The Washington Examiner […]

Hundreds gather for candlelight vigil for dead elk, to ‘grieve, celebrate and find closure’

The following article, which appeared in the Boulder, Colorado newspaper Daily Camera, is yet another reminder of the “upside down world” we inhabit, in the words of a recent editorial by the Archdiocese of Mexico City. While thousands of babies are murdered daily in the United States with total impunity, and in a way that would be criminal if applied to an animal, large groups gather to gush with sentimentality over a dead elk, speaking of it as if it were a murder victim. According to reports that have appeared in the media, the elk was killed by an over-enthusiastic […]

The photos and Marla’s story will be posted at the new website, SafeAndLegal.com, which will be operational later today. I will also post these tragic photos, which I have seen, when they come online. The autopsy photos are published with the blessing and encouragement of Marla’s family, who want the world to know that supposedly […]

Rasmussen poll shows little change in pro-life sentiment

The aftermath of the 2012 elections has been difficult for the pro-life movement. When Republican candidates fare poorly, social conservatives often bear much of the blame, and this election cycle has certainly been no exception. Making matters worse, many pundits have argued that the Democratic party’s crusade about a Republican “war on women,” coupled with the inopportune statements by Republican U.S. Senate candidates Richard Mourdock and Todd Akin, made the pro-life position a political loser for the Republican party. Making matters worse was a poll released by Rasmussen in the weeks after the election. It showed that “pro-choice” sentiment has […]

Canadian gvmt cuts funds to the poor, while sending millions to Planned Parenthood?

Priorities, priorities. What are we to think when a country announces it will cut aid to an earthquake-ravaged nation while its overseas development agency funnels millions to the world’s largest abortion provider? Julian Fantino, Prime Minister Harper’s International Development Minister, announced Friday that the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) would stop funding new development projects in Haiti, which is still recovering from the devastating earthquake in 2010. CIDA sent around $50 million to Haiti in 2010-2011, but Fantino says he is disappointed with the slow progress of post-earthquake reconstruction. Yet he says this as CIDA is sending $6 million to […]

Abortion activists, TIME magazine, and the path to victory

This year marks two solemn anniversaries for the abortion battle in North America—it is both the 25th anniversary of R. v. Morgentaler and the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. To the shock of many pro-lifers, TIME magazine heralded Roe v. Wade’s coming of age with a cover story by Kate Pickert that announced: “40 Years Ago, Abortion Activists Won An Epic Victory With Roe v. Wade. They’ve Been Losing Ever Since.” Obviously (as many pro-life commentators have already pointed out) the truth is a bit more complicated than that, although there are plenty of reasons for optimism. However, what […]

Facebook bans SNL star Victoria Jackson for posting graphic abortion photo

A few facts… 1. The Left heralds abortion as a constitutional right. 2. Facebook allows only people age 13 and over to create personal pages. In other words, every female on Facebook has the legal right to abort. 3. Facebook allows a pro-abortion activist to post instructions on how to commit illegal self-abortions. (Facebook briefly censored the instructions but reposted them and apologized.) So, logically and objectively speaking, why in the world would Facebook censor information about abortion? Isn’t FB for full disclosure and informed consent? Would FB actually help promote a surgical procedure but censor what that procedure entails? […]

Euthanasia Rates Double in Belgium

Euthanasia Rates Double in Belgium by LifeSiteNews.com By Gudrun Schultz FLANDERS, Belgium, February 7, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Four hundred people were reported killed by euthanasia in Belgium in 2005, double the rate of four years ago. Belgium legalized euthanasia in 2002, following the Netherlands to become the second European country to do so. In the first year two hundred people were killed. Since then rates have steadily risen. Last year deaths reportedly reached 360. Figures published today indicate one third of “assisted suicides” involve a surgical procedure, reported the Evening Echo News. In some cases, medical treatment is stopped, or […]

Study: Fatherless Childhood May Injure Brain Development by LifeSiteNews.com By James Tillman WASHINGTON, DC, October 28, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com)—Recent animal research backs previous sociological research by indicating that children raised by single mothers may experience reduced brain development, leading to an increase in aggressive behavior, according to an article in the Wall Street Journal. The findings come from research on degus, which are small rodents related to guinea pigs. Degu parents usually raise their pups together. When deprived of their father, however, degu pups exhibited developmental changes in the amygdala, the part of the brain related to emotional responses and to […]

Something to be dealt with in the churches – urgently and forcefully

This past summer I wrote about a very serious problem in the Catholic Church that is still far from having been resolved, although there has been some progress. That is, there are still very many actively homosexual and homosexual friendly clergy (from the lowest ranks to cardinals), religious and staff in numerous Church related offices and organizations in the developed World and in other nations such as Columbia. These people of the 50s and 60s revolution in the Church, some heavily influenced by Marxist thought, have played and are still playing a large role in most of the dreadful corruptions […]

Don’t water down the March for Life

I spotted the above graphic on the Holy Angels Youth Group website (out of Chagrin Falls, Ohio). Although the graphic was certainly well-intended, it bothered me. The annual March for Life is scheduled on or near January 22, the anniversary of the infamous U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion throughout all of America in 1973. Although the M4L website states it is “the collective effort of grassroots prolife Americans to assure that our state and federal laws shall protect the right to life of each human in existence at fertilization,” I think clearly the March is […]
