The lies in Rolling Stone’s ‘Seven Most Common Lies About Abortion’

Rolling Stone recently published a list of The Seven Most Common Lies About Abortion. The list is mostly a collection of straw man parodies of pro-life talking points rebutted with cherry-picked pro-choice statistics. And it wouldn’t be worth a second of anyone’s time if it wasn’t being passed around social media like wildfire and garnering thousands of comments on Rolling Stone’s site. But it is, so let’s debunk the debunking point by point! 1. “Abortion Causes Breast Cancer.” This lie about abortion is one of the most widely circulated. It’s commonly cited by abortion opponents and CPC employees as a means of scaring patients out of […]

Notorious abortionist’s cold call mailing to doctors: Further evidence of abortion provider shortage

One of our supporters — a family practice doctor currently working in the Chicago area — recently sent us a cold-call mailing he had received from notorious abortionists Vinod and Vijay Goyal, a husband-and-wife team who own and operate more surgical abortion clinics than anyone else in Illinois. The letter [PDF] begins: Dear Dr. ________, We realize that it can be difficult to find a truly professional medical facility to refer your patients to for pregnancy termination services. Please allow me to introduce these State Licensed, outpatient surgery centers of www.IllinoisAbortion.com. Clearly, then, the purpose of this mailing is to […]

Arizona House passes bill for prosecuting assisted suicide

The Associated Press has reported that an Arizona bill designed to make it easier to prosecute cases of assisted suicide passed on the Arizona House on Tuesday. The article stated: Republican Rep. Justin Pierce of Mesa says his bill will make it easier for attorneys to prosecute people for manslaughter for assisting in suicide by more clearly defining what it means to “assist.”  House Bill 2565 defines assisting in suicide as offering and providing the physical means used to commit suicide, such as a gun. Current state statute does not clearly define what it means to “assist.”  The proposal was prompted […]

Leader of Portuguese Ruling Party Seeks to Create Homosexual “Marriage” in Portugal

Leader of Portuguese Ruling Party Seeks to Create Homosexual “Marriage” in Portugal by LifeSiteNews.com By Matthew Cullinan Hoffman PORTUGAL, January 27, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The leader of Portugal’s ruling Socialist Party, Jose Socrates, has announced his support for homosexual “marriage,” sparking controversy and protest throughout the country and within the Socialist Party (PS) itself. “This is the moment for the PS, in its national congress, to affirm its desire to propose to Portuguese society the right to civil marriage for people of the same sex,” he said in a political speech in the Belem Cultural Center. “As far as I […]

Rolling Stone must have been stoned when they published this pile of lies on abortion

It never ceases to amaze me how much the pro-abortion industry will twist the truth, leave out facts and just plain lie to protect their blood money empire. They have created campaigns to smear the pro-life movement like “the war on women” which actually better describe themselves. They know they can only win with rhetoric and lies because truth and science just don’t support the idea that killing innocent children is copacetic. In Rolling Stone’s recent article, “The Seven Most Common Lies About Abortion: Debunking anti-choice misinformation about women’s health”, the writer is really just trying to de-stigmatize abortion, clean up […]

Daily Beast dreams of abortion clinics in malls, high schools

“Safe, legal and RARE everywhere” is the new and improved abortion mantra – or so suggests The Daily Beast’s latest “Women in the World” blog.  Daily Beast Contributor Gabby Bess recently explored “The Architecture of Abortion Clinics” by interviewing architect Lori Brown for “Women in the World.” To introduce Brown’s “new book” (published June 2013), Bess noted that, “abortion clinics are often pushed to the fringes of communities where access is the most crucial” to ask, “But what if they were integrated into the mainstream of our everyday space: clinics in malls, clinics on military bases, clinics on high school campuses, and open […]

Which will triumph in Arizona (and the USA): freedom or ‘gay rights’?

The powerful, media-fed “Gay Hysteria” machine is exploding over Arizona Senate Bill 1062, which seeks to protect citizens’ First Amendment liberty NOT to violate their conscience with regard to homosexual “marriages.” But few Americans realize how decades of court-imposed favored legal status for homosexuality have already stolen away our “freedom to be moral.” Tragically, America is far down the road of “Criminalizing Christianity”—or, more accurately, Judeo-Christian morality—thanks to Big Gay Inc and its powerful allies in the courts, media and academia. But what is most amazing about this Culture War battle is how homosexual activists still manage to play the […]

I can tell you that my clients are not as you describe in fact I find hard to understand why anyone would make such broad statements about men,” wrote a prostitute who goes by the name Susan Naomi Davis. The crazy alternative lifestyle of marriage and children

I have five kids. I thought I was sane, but apparently, I’m living a crazy alternative lifestyle. Freestyle halfpipe skier David Wise won gold at Sochi. NBC, rather than being impressed with his world-class athleticism, focused on his “alternative lifestyle.” You see, Wise is married to Alexandra, and they have a young son. Wise is also considering becoming a pastor. San Diego Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers has had his critics in terms of his play, but there are also critics of his “alternative lifestyle”: he and his wife, Tiffany, have six kids (they recently had a seventh child.) Three funniest frustrations from a pro-life road trip

When I write about campus activism and the Genocide Awareness Project, I usually end up writing about powerful encounters we’ve had—babies saved from abortion, hearts and minds changed, moving encounter, and new insights. It’s for these reasons, after all, that we go on the road for weeks at a time to debate university students. There is, however, another side of on-the-road pro-life trips that all activists will recognize, from showing up at host homes as dark and silent as an abortionist’s conscience to suddenly realizing that you’re in a van with seven people, an empty gas tank, and the last […]

Killing puppies is ‘horrific,’ but killing late-term babies is ‘heroic’?

Jodi Jacobson is editor-in-chief of RH Reality Check, a pro-abortion website dedicated “to safeguard…  sexual and reproductive health and rights against false attacks and misinformation.” Jacobson has stated it is “profoundly disrespectful” to oppose late-term abortions, which she defines as “at or after 24 weeks or in the third trimester.” Jacobson has described those who kill babies in the third trimester as “committed, ethical, moral medical professional[s].” She said pro-lifers were “lunatics” to call late-term abortionist George Tiller a “mass murderer” – himself a subsequent victim of murder. Rather, Jacobson maintained, Tiller was a “heroic, kind, compassionate, professional.”  Jacobson opposes fetal pain bans […]

Nests and candles

My family is constantly growing.  And I don't mean just in numbers, though fourteen kids in fourteen years is impressive; I mean spiritually.  We are constantly growing closer and closer to God, especially the older ones, like my brother Ben (age 13) and me. I am at the age where I am starting to want to understand more, to know more.  I am just as questioning as my five-year-old sister Becca, with her constant “Why? Why? Why?” It's all part of the growing process.  My mind is continuously developing.  So is the rest of the world. Everything from fashion to […]

66 babies born alive after abortion in one year in Britain raise questions for parliamentarians

The Committee of Ministers has been asked to act ‘in order to guarantee that foetuses who survive abortions are not deprived of the medical treatment that they are entitled to – as human persons born alive – according to the European Convention on Human Rights’. “Brain Death” Test Causes Brain Necrosis and Kills Patients: Neurologist to Rome Conference

“Brain Death” Test Causes Brain Necrosis and Kills Patients: Neurologist to Rome Conference by LifeSiteNews.com By Hilary White – Rome correspondent ROME, February 25, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – One of the medical world’s key diagnostic tools for determining “brain death” preliminary to organ retrieval, actually causes severe brain damage it purports to determine, neurologist Dr. Cicero Coimbra told attendees at a conference held in Rome last week. Church of England bishops say members should ‘welcome’ couples in same-sex ‘marriages’

This extraordinary statement is embedded deep within paragraph 18 in the ‘statement of Pastoral Guidance on Same Sex Marriage’ issued by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York on behalf of the House of Bishops of the Church of England this week. Daily Beast: Wendy Davis Is ‘America’s Conscience on Abortion’

Pity The Daily Beast’s Keli Goff. Anyone who would try to explain “How Wendy Davis Became America’s Conscience on Abortion” must have a tragically ill-formed concept of conscience. Or maybe Goff just lost a bet. But “The Texas gubernatorial candidate didn’t flip-flop,” Goff assured readers on Feb. 18, “she just voiced what a large percentage of Americans already think of this hot button issue.” That issue is a ban on abortion after 20 weeks, and Davis’ recently expressed support for such a ban (provided certain changes) is indeed in line with what a large percentage of Americans think. When governments kill

Chastine is on the cusp of sacrificing a promising career as a legitimate ob/gyn to to take abortionist George Tiller’s place at his retooled abortion clinic in Wichita. What the UN really wants from the Catholic Church: a paragraph-by-paragraph analysis

An informed reading of the UN’s document (available here) is very revealing, and a useful teaching tool, as it more or less comprehensively summarizes the entire program of the revolutionaries against the traditional Christian worldview. What follows is not nearly a comprehensive analysis, but more like what […]

Happy Valentine’s! Media claim true love = no kids

Could a “childfree” life be the secret ingredient to a happy marriage? Many in the media certainly think so – and they’ve been promoting the idea more and more. Journalists were abuzz with the topic last year after Time magazine’s cover story detailed a new British study claiming “childfree” translates to happier relationships. Lefty sites such as Slate, The Huffington Post and The Daily Beast published articles on women romanticizing their childless lives where women and experts reasoned, “I don’t enjoy alien-parasites” (aka “babies”) and “people have children to glorify their own ego,” to then call “the childfree life” “the […]

There is no age limitation.  Here is how it is supposed to work from the Washington Post story: The child must have a terminal and incurable illness, with death expected to occur “within a brief period.” The child must also be experiencing “constant and unbearable physical suffering.” Like for adults desiring euthanasia, that diagnosis and prognosis must be agreed upon by the treating physician and an outsider brought in to give a second opinion. The child is to be interviewed by a pediatric psychiatrist or psychologist, who must determine that the […]

Belgium’s child euthanasia ‘safeguards’ will be flagrantly abused

The Belgian Chamber of Deputies approved the extension of euthanasia to children by a vote of 86 to 44 today. This bill was approved without first addressing the abuse of the Belgian euthanasia law. Let's be clear, abuse of the euthanasia law results in the death of a person. The concept of approving lethal injections for children with disabilities or terminal conditions, even after studies have proven that many assisted deaths in Belgium are done without explicit request and after it is proven that a massive number of assisted deaths in Belgium are not being reported suggests that the Belgian government […]

Doctors Say Legalizing Same-Sex Marriage Will Give False Impression Gay Sex is Safe

Doctors Say Legalizing Same-Sex Marriage Will Give False Impression Gay Sex is Safe by LifeSiteNews.com OTTAWA, February 18, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The looming legalization of same-sex marriage has pushed several doctors to begin speaking out on the harmful medical consequences of homosexual sex. In addition to the group of physicians who presented their findings to Parliament in a referenced brief last week (see LifeSiteNews.com coverage https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2005/feb/05021709.html ), two other doctors have approached LifeSiteNews.com to submit evidence but requested anonymity based on fear of retribution from homosexual activists. The doctors noted that they are concerned for individuals practicing dangerous homosexual sex […]

Dutch health minister: 45 psychiatric euthanasia deaths in 2013

The Netherlands euthanasia law must be stopped. The NL Times reported that the Dutch Minister of Health, Edith Schippers, stated that there were 45 psychiatric euthanasia deaths in 2013 up from 14 in 2012. The NL Times stated that: Schippers believes that the rise of euthanasia cases with psychiatric patients can be explained in the increased willingness of doctors to offer euthanasia in these cases. She also thinks that doctors know that the testing commissions have ruled that in all 27 cases from 2011 and 2012, there was careful action. Thus, she claims that the conception of doctors concerning the legal […]

Boys Who See Porn More Likely to Harass Girls: Study

Boys Who See Porn More Likely to Harass Girls: Study by LifeSiteNews.com By Hilary White February 3, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Boys who see pornography regularly are more likely to have sexual relations and harass girls in school, a new study has found. Michael Flood, a researcher with the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, La Trobe University, said that exposure of children to pornography results in “a range of notable and often troubling effects.” “Exposure to pornography,” Flood wrote, “helps to sustain young people’s adherence to sexist and unhealthy notions of sex and relationships.” Flood, an Australian sociologist […]

How J-Lo taught us that colic isn’t a good reason to have an abortion

Sometimes, buried within the mire of a romantic comedy is a beautiful truth, a nugget of pure gold. I confess, I'm a sucker for chick-flicks like most women, even though they are, more often than not, morally questionable. “The Backup Plan” starring Jennifer Lopez is no exception. But for all the immorality and ethical issues that appear in this particular film (i.e. premarital sex and IVF), there is some real truth to be found. I thought of this film when I read an article LifeSiteNews just published on a Democratic rep who stated that “babies' persistent cries, habit of interrupting their […]

Fourteen

Fourteen. It's a good number. It's the name of the year. 2014. And though it is a few months old, I haven't completely abandoned all of my New Year's resolutions, because I know that some would actually be beneficial. Here are a few that I have tried to keep: Defend my beliefs better. Adopt a healthier lifestyle (this one is recycled from last year…and the year before…). Be kinder to people around me. Number three is going to be key, because I have a lot of people around me. And not just at school, either. It's pretty busy at home, […]

Behind the headlines: information and misinformation in pregnancy counselling

The pro-abortion organization, Education For Choice (EFC) which is a project within the sexual health charity, Brook, who themselves work closely with the Family Planning Association to promote abortion, has produced a new report based on its own mystery shopping of some independent pregnancy counselling centres, mainly linked to LIFE and Care Confidential.  Their findings have been reported by the Daily Telegraph, with calls to clamp down on independent counselling clinics and talk of scandalous misinformation being given out. Crisis pregnancy counselling must always be professional and evidence-based. The use of bad science and research is wrong. Counselling clinics must provide women with unbiased information so that they can make fully […]

‘Breeders:’ A cautionary tale

The Center for Bioethics and Culture (CBC) is an organization committed to “bioethical issues” such as surrogacy, stem cell research and human cloning, amongst other issues. They have recently produced a documentary entitled “Breeders: a subclass of women?” It is a cautionary tale, and a very sad one. The film focuses on women who chose to be surrogates (one chose surrogacy several times), and the turmoil that arose. The issue of surrogacy comes down to the buying and selling of children, one woman states; contracts and money are involved. Yet, one lawyer interviewed admits surrogacy is a “chaotic” area of […]

Girl Scouts USA in bed with big abortion

My sisters were girl scouts. And they loved it. I remember how they would come home singing songs I’ve never heard, breaking into harmony, and laughing about some song about billboards and flow-through tea bags. Do-Si-Dos (my personal favorite) and other sugary goodness were a reminder of how sweet it was that my sisters were involved in Girl Scouts. They didn’t earn badges advocating for “reproductive rights” or bring home books celebrating pro-abortion activists like Gloria Steinem, Wendy Davis, or NARAL/NOW founder Betty Friedan (who also served as a GSUSA Board member). But time has a way of corrupting good and […]

NARAL president: pro-lifers, Tea Partiers are ‘lying and cheating’

Remember when you could disagree with liberals and not get smeared as extreme and/or dishonest? Me neither. It’s how the left argues – especially about abortion. During a Google+ hangout on Feb. 10, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue bashed the pro-life movement and the tea party for “lying and cheating” to pass legislation. She also asserted that the pro-life stance is “outside of the mainstream.” (Not according to the polls). The “#ASKNARAL Pro-Choice Hangout” event featured other NARAL employees in addition to Hogue discussing “choice” and answering questions asked via Twitter. When asked about “all these attacks” on the pro-choice movement, […]

Why is the abortion rate falling? Maybe fewer women want abortions

The Guttmacher Institute’s report finding a recent reduction in the abortion rate has generated a considerable amount of media coverage, drawing analysis not only from Guttmacher but by Andrew Sullivan and writers for The New Republic, Slate, and Bloomberg Businessweek. Most of these commentators appear to have a vested interest in giving pro-lifers as little credit as possible for the recent decline in the abortion rate, but the theories they offer are either problematic or incomplete. Below is a quick summary of the explanations put forth by various analysts as to why the abortion rate declined by 13 percent between 2008 and 2011: The slow economy: In their report, Guttmacher theorizes […]

Hey Girl Scouts, how about offering a Respect Life badge?

The Girl Scouts have had a disturbing, well-documented relationship with the abortion lobby for a long time. The organization finally overplayed its hand this past December by giving its stamp of approval to two infamous pro-abortion women, Wendy Davis and Kathleen Sebelius. This drew a boycott of Girl Scout cookies, called CookieCott2014. Yesterday the America Heritage Girls, a faith-based alternative to the Girl Scouts, announced a new Respect Life Patch, which ”reinforces the organization’s commitment to honoring life from conception to natural death.” How to earn the patch? From the press release: Troops representing more than 30,000 girls in 48 states can earn the patch by participating in an event […]

Dissecting the New York Times’ pro-euthanasia bias

I have long ago given up on the media fairly — or even accurately — reporting on the assisted suicide movement. Most stories exhibit some or all of the following bias methods: Adopt the advocacy lexicon of the assisted suicide/euthanasia movement. Center the narrative around a man who “just wants to die,” rather than an event, e.g. actual news. Word engineering by redefining terms and blurring moral distinctions to make reasoned ethical analysis more difficult. Only present the perspective of pro-assisted suicide activists. If an opponent of assisted suicide is quoted, make it a Catholic priest–or better yet, a bishop–to imply […]

The abortion rate declined by 13 percent between 2008 and 2011, and it fell in 2011 to its lowest point since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. The decline was fairly consistent across states. In only six of the 50 states did the number of abortions increase between 2008 and 2011, and […]

Abortion Inc.: As abortion rate continues to fall, Planned Parenthood’s abortion numbers rise

The study found a rate of 16.9 abortions per thousand women of childbearing age in 2011, though it did not probe the possible causes for the decline. But even as the abortion rate continues its slow decline, Planned Parenthood—the nation’s largest abortion chain—continues to perform more and more abortions and dominate the abortion market. According to their annual report [PDF], Planned Parenthood performed 333,964 abortions in 2012—almost 80,000 more than they […]

A catalogue of reasons why the Scottish Assisted Suicide Bill should be rejected

An opinion piece in The Guardian on Saturday by the Editor of the Daily Mail in Scotland, Kevin McKenna, provides a powerful critique of Margo MacDonald MSP’s Assisted Suicide (Scotland) Bill.     Mr McKenna highlights that, although Ms MacDonald’s Bill contains safeguards and claims to ensure that only terminally ill people or those suffering from deteriorating progressive conditions can seek assistance with dying, it may encourage those suffering from depression to take their life.   Mr McKenna reinforces this point by noting that Ms MacDonald’s proposed Bill mirrors the Oregon model which, when passed into legislation, led to a 450% increase in assisted suicides, 20% of which involved […]

Notorious abortionist Garson Romalis has died: over a decade ago, I sat with him in his office

Another infamous Canadian abortionist has died.  The Vancouver Province reported that Dr. Garson Romalis died from illness on January 30, incidentally almost a full pregnancy gestation since abortionist Henry Morgentaler died last May 29. When I learned of Dr. Romalis’ death, I couldn’t help but recall our encounter sitting in his medical office more than a decade ago when I was an 18-year-old UBC student.  My classmate and I wanted to organize a debate on abortion; having heard of Dr. Romalis as a local abortionist, we went to his office and asked his secretary if we could speak with him about participating […]

CBS didn’t even mention it. By contrast, the networks […]

The three stupidest things Canadian abortion activists have said (lately)

Canada's pro-abortion movement rarely has anything compelling or intelligent to say, but every once in awhile they out-do themselves. Here's a few of those examples from the past couple weeks: 1. From the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada’s (ARCC) Facebook page, posting an article on sex selection abortion: Lessons from India: Here's an excellent article that explains in detail how the war against sex selection abortion in India contributes to the further oppression of women in many ways.  Quotes: “The right of women to do what they feel is best for them in the circumstances they find themselves is sacrificed at the […]
